Couture collection Melody - rabbit vibrator by Cal Exotics - review by Breas

The Couture Collection Melody by Cal Exotics arrived in a fairly large cardboard box. The front of the box states the company name, product name, and a few product features. There is also a photo of the toy on the front of the box. The front of the box opens like a book. On the left hand side there is a list of toy features and another photo of the toy. On the right hand side is a plastic window on the box that reveals the toy inside. The very back of the box states the same information as the front along with a brief product description.

Inside of this box, there is a cardboard tray that slides out. The toy is sitting in this tray and wrapped with frosted coloured foam for protection. The packaging is far too large for the size of the toy but it can be used for storing it if you have the room. The packaging is not discreet and it can be recycled. You’ll have to excuse the damage/staining to the box in the photos below. A liquid product spilled in my order.



I love the look of Melody! It reminds me of a unicorn’s horn with its swirled texture-- but without the sharp point at the end. The light shade of blue is lovely. It’s a very attractive looking toy! The shaft and clitoral arm are made of silicone while the base of the toy is plastic. The shaft has a bit of flexibility to it while the clitoral arm can be flexed almost completely backwards.

Shaft circumference: 3 ¼ - 5 ½ inches
Insertable length of shaft: 5 ¼ inches
Clitoral arm circumference: 2 ¾ inches
Clitoral arm length: 1 ¾ inches
Distance between shaft and clitoral arm (at top- not flexed): ½ of an inch
Length of base: 3 ¾ inches

The swirls to the shaft and clitoral arm create bulged areas. There are no seam lines to the toy. There are 6 bulges to the shaft, with the top bulge (the head), having the most pronounced swirl to it. The head has a circumference of approximately 3 ¼ inches and the circumference widens as you get to the bottom of the shaft. The largest circumference to the insertable portion of the shaft is just less than 5 ½ inches.



The clitoral arm has the same swirled texture, creating little bulges. There are 3 bulges to the arm. The distance between the shaft and clitoral arm is only ½ of an inch normally but as I had mentioned, the arm is flexible and can be bent easily to a 90 degree angle. I was able to bend the arm completely backwards so that the arm’s back touched the base of the toy.

With the toy being silicone, only water-based lubricants should be used when playing with Melody. There is quite a bit of drag with the silicone so you’ll probably want to have a lubricant handy. Melody is waterproof so she can be brought into the shower or bath with you. I haven’t fully submerged Melody yet but held her under the tap when I cleaned her and she worked fine.

The toy requires 3x AA batteries, which are not included. The battery compartment is located at the very bottom of the base. The lid to the compartments twists off easily. There is a white casing inside that slides out that you put the batteries in. For obvious reasons, be sure to close the lid tightly especially when bringing the toy in the water.



Melody did not come with any instructions or manual but the toy is fairly simple to figure out on your own (and I’ll explain everything here for you anyway). There are 3 buttons to the toy. The button on the bottom turns the toy on or off with a single click. When you turn the toy on, the buttons will be a nice bright blue colour. You can turn the toy off at any time by pressing this button. When you turn the toy off and then on again, you’ll be back at the beginning, as the toy does not save where you left off (which pattern, etc).



The two other buttons control the shaft and clitoral arm. They are controlled separately so you can have both or just one on during play. The button in the middle that looks like a squiggly line controls the clitoral arm. There are several speeds and patterns (which I’ll list in a moment) that you can cycle through by pressing this button.

The top button controls the shaft rotation. There are 3 speeds to the shaft rotation: low, medium, and high. You can cycle through these by clicking that top button.

The clitoral arm has 7 functions and they are as follows:

1. Low, constant vibration
2. Medium, constant vibration
3. High, constant vibration
4. Medium pulses
5. Escalating pulses from low to high
6. Fast pulses
7. Pulsating- short, short, short, long and repeats

The noise level to the toy is quite quiet. When I was checking out all of the toys patterns and functions, the arm seemed a bit loud. Once I used the toy and the arm had pressure applied to it, the noise was dampened. The noise from this toy cannot be heard through a closed door, even on the highest setting.

The rotating shaft was a bit disappointing. Only the top two bulges of the shaft do any moving (2 ½ inches in length) and even on the highest setting, it’s not that fast. I didn’t really notice the power getting weaker with both shaft and arm on though so that’s a good thing.

The vibrations to the clitoral arm are rumbly rather than buzzy. I have stronger rabbit vibrators than this but I’m satisfied with the power of Melody on the highest setting. The low constant vibration is a vroom level of 2, the medium is a 3, and the high is a 4. I was able to feel the swirled texture to the toy upon insertion but it wasn’t uncomfortable. The rotation can be felt while inside but it really didn’t do much for me, even on the highest speed. The texture is fine for beginners but a beginner, or those who prefer the slender insertable toys, may not appreciate the larger circumference near the base.

The silicone material collects lint, pet hair, etc so I recommend cleaning it both before and after each use. The swirls to the toy don’t make it any less easy to clean. The toy can be cleaned with soap and water, toy wipes, or a toy cleaning spray. You can also disinfect the toy by wiping it down with rubbing alcohol. If you share the toy, disinfect it each time or cover it with a condom.

Overall, I’m very happy with Melody. She could use a bit more strength in the shaft but she still satisfied me. I’ve deducted the one star because of the shaft power.
