Nice Melody but Not Quite in Tune

If you like girthy toys, deep insertion, and you don't need a lot in the way of direct clit vibrations, try the Melody, you will probably love it!

Use

Couture Collection Melody is an interesting toy. It has a fairly unique shape, which feels different than other vibes I've used and in a good way. Due to its size and girth, its best use is during those solo sessions when you're craving a bit more than the average vibrator. The rotating tip works really well for G-spot stimulation. Unfortunately for those who like stronger vibes, the bit more applies only to size, not to vibe strength. This toy starts out smaller at the tip and gets much wider toward the bottom of the shaft. It could be used for anal play by partially inserting it or for the brave, full insertion.

Material / Texture

When I took the toy out of its box, I was immediately impressed with the texture. The Couture Collection Melody's food-grade silicone shaft is among the nicest of all vibrators that I've tried. It's great that California Exotics is putting out these higher-end vibrators. The silicone exterior feels like a very thick, soft layer over the inner workings of this vibe. It is very velvety and has quite a bit of drag. Because of the texture and size, this is a toy you will probably want to use some lube with (always use non-silicone lube with silicone toys). There was no noticeable smell, and the toy is really different and beautiful with its soft blue color, silver control base, and unique shape.

The toy is also heavy and feels very substantial. The silver plastic base looks nice, but in use it wasn't so nice for me. It is hard plastic, and it flares out a little at the bottom with sharp edges, which felt a little like it was cutting into my hands when I used the vibrator. If I adjusted my grip so I wasn't holding those sharp edges, I was then pressing buttons and changing the functions/speeds by mistake. It is also very smooth, which makes it slippery if your hands have any moisture or lube on them. I experimented a lot but could never find a satisfactory way to hold it. So I recruited my husband, which worked much better, except that he isn't on-call 24 hours a day to help me with my vibrator problems. Although I'm sure he would like to be!

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the Couture Collection Melody's shaft is great. The graduated bulges are unique and wonderful! They are soft but firm enough that you really feel them as you slide the toy in & out, and the width at the bottom gives a nice full feeling all around the labia and lower vagina, which I really like. It is a large vibrator, a little over 10 inches in length from tip to base, and the diameter at the widest part (the base of the shaft) is a respectable 1-5/8". This vibrator would be suited for intermediate-to-advanced users who like some extra texture and girth.

The shaft is slightly flexible, but not bendable. The clit stimulator is firm and somewhat flexible. It ended up hitting me with the point poking me just behind my clit. Due to the toy's size and the clit stimulator being less flexible than most rabbits, it was difficult for me to insert it enough (and bend the clit part flat enough) to have it lie flat against my clit area. I do like pressure & targeted rubbing against my clit so it was fine for me, but if you like a rabbit that presses flat against you rather than poking you, this might not be the best choice for you. Of course, everyone's anatomy is different and, especially if you like deep penetration, you may be able to vary the way it works for you more than I could.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Melody takes 3 AA batteries, and has a sealing ring at the battery compartment opening so it is waterproof. I submerged it and put it through its functions and there was no water leakage.

It has 3 buttons on the front of the base for controls. The bottom button turns the toy on. The middle button changes the vibration patterns, which are:

1. Mildest steady vibration
2. Medium steady vibration
3. Strongest steady vibration
4. Pulsing
5. Escalating pulsing
6. Fast pulsing
7. Intermittent short and long pulsing

The top button controls the speed of the rotating tip of the toy. When I first inserted it partway so it was hitting my G-spot and turned it on, it definitely got my attention! This is a great toy for g-spot use. Unfortunately, what I found was that for it hit my G-spot it had to be inserted about 3/4 of the length of the shaft, which made the clit stimulator pretty much irrelevant. If you have a really deep G-spot, this toy might be for you! But for me it was either simply a g-spot toy, or if inserted enough to be able to use the clit portion, the shaft tip was rotating against my cervix, somewhat uncomfortably.

The clit arm on this toy really disappointed me in vibration strength. I liked the rumbly quality of the vibrations, but just never felt like they were strong enough, even when I used just the clit arm and pressed it against me. I normally need medium vibrations but the vibes from this toy seemed dampened, like the motor inside isn't making much direct contact with the silicone covering so the vibes aren't transmitted well.

The Melody is fairly quiet. It can be heard through blankets but wouldn't be heard from outside a room.
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings
    • Weak

Care and Maintenance

This toy is made out of silicone, which gets a 10 out of 10 on the Edenfantasys' safety scale. It can be cleaned by wiping it with a bleach solution or using soap and water. It is waterproof and can be submersed in water to clean it.

Silicone-based lube should not be used, and always store your silicone toys apart from each other.

Packaging

The Couture Collection Melody comes in a large, attractive box, and the front panel of the box opens to reveal a clear plastic window showing the toy behind it. It is a nice presentation, but the box wouldn't hold up long-term for storage.

Personal comments

I really wanted to like this unique vibrator, but the weak clitoral vibrations were the deal-breaker for me, and I ended up returning the toy to exchange it for something different (thank you Edenfantasys for your wonderful return policy). I was quite disappointed because I really like the look and features of this toy, but I just couldn't make it work for me. If the shaft was a little shorter for g-spot use and the clitoral arm had better direct vibrations, I think it would have been a great vibrator for me. I was very impressed with its quality and attractive design.
Follow-up commentary
It never got any better for me. I exchanged it for something else. Thanks Eden, for your great return policy!
