ne pas l'amour mais, comme ci comme ca (Do not love, but so-so)

I love the feel of the soft, plushy, silicone, but the vibrations were simply not strong enough. I can only recommend this for teasing, which it does very well. But if you are looking for a solo toy that will take you to the finish line, I would try to find something stronger.

Use

The Lamour Tryst 3 is a traditional shaped vibrator. It can be used vaginally or for external stimulation and is waterproof so it can be taken into the bathtub. However due to the weakness of the vibrations I found it worked best for playing with my partner. What was frustrating in solo play became an exciting exchange in power during partner play.

The texture and material is very arousing. Solo play started out great, but the vibrations are weak and it doesn't get my g-spot easily during thrusting. Eventually I got frustrated enough I grabbed another toy to finish. I did enjoy it, but I couldn't come from this toy alone. The best combo for me was a few thrusts then position the tip vibe on the clit. But ultimately, it just wasn't strong enough.

However, the frustration of solo play turned into exciting foreplay. If you are into some kink, the lack of power combined with the sensual feel is great for teasing but not letting your sub cum. Orgasm denial is one of my favorite games as a sub, so this toy will most likely get more use from us on that front. The toy gets me incredibly aroused, but I have yet to come from it, so my guy can tease for a really long time without having to worry I'll orgasm prematurely.

Though I had fun, I don't think the fact I couldn't orgasm from it is a feature. It is more of a silver lining. Yes, it can get my juices flowing, but it doesn't set off the fireworks. If you are very sensitive and enjoy light vibrations this toy may work better you than it did for me.

Material / Texture

As I mentioned above, I love the material. The shaft is 100% silicone with a velvety finish which makes it completely non porous. It is soft and plushy with just a bit of drag. There are a few shallow dips and bumps, but I could not feel them during thrusting. The material is also very forgiving, soft and bendable, but still firm which is great for beginners. The head of the toy is much more firm than the shaft, which may help some with g-spot stimulation depending on their anatomy. For me, it didn't hit the right spots. The combination of the velvety feel with the squishyness is amazing. It is such an arousing sensation anywhere on my body.

There was no noticeable smell when I opened the package and no taste. It is not impossible to hide, but it isn't a tiny toy, and it definitely looks like a vibrator. So be sure to keep it where you have privacy.

EDIT: I did not mention that the base/battery compartment is made of hard plastic. This part is not insertable but affects care.

Design / Shape / Size

I would have enjoyed this more if it had a bit of a curve. While thrusting felt great, it doesn't hit the g-spot easily, in solo play you really need to angle your wrist a lot to thrust to your G-spot. The light vibrations can be felt a bit at the G-spot, but are really light. The arousal eventually turns to frustration as this toy is just not strong enough to get off on vibrations, and doesn't hit the right places inside either.

I measured the toy to check against the specs. The length is correct on the page. It is 7" long with 5 1/2" insertable. However the circumference is closer to 4 inches which puts the diameter at just slightly larger than 1 1/4 inches.

The battery compartment is a very odd design. The waterproof ring is well inside the compartment, so water can get into the plastic casing that holds the batteries, but not to the batteries themselves. When you open the battery area water may at that point get inside, so be sure it is dry everywhere before storing. It clicks in place with a tiny piece of plastic. I can easily imagine that this would weaken over time and cause problems down the road depending on how long lasting you expect this toy to be.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Powered by two AAA batteries, the vibrator is operated by 2 buttons. A dedicated on/off switch and a function button. The top button is on/off. Once you turn it on, it does not start vibrating until you press the wavy function button. It then cycles through 7 different speeds and patterns. In order they are:

Low
"Med"
"High"
Escalating
Pulse (high)
Faster pulse (high)
Short short short long (high)

On the 8th press it returns to "low." I put "med" and "high" into scare quotes for a reason. Yes, each is stronger than the preceding, but they are all weak even when compared with toys I've had that run on watch batteries.

I appreciate that there is a dedicated on/off button. This means I can start over from "low" instead of cycling through if I want. The buttons are easy to access, but not in the way. I had no problems accidentally changing functions or turning it off while in use.

The vibrations themselves are very weak, buzzy vibrations. The pulsing patterns seem a bit stronger than high. But not enough to bring me to orgasm. It felt really nice, but eventually became frustrating during solo play. So I tossed it aside and grabbed a stronger toy.

I tub tested the toy and it works well in the water. It was a great warm up with my partner. But I have stronger tub toys.

One plus, is that the tryst 3 is very quiet. The low setting can barely be heard. The high setting is also fairly quiet. The sound is mostly muffled through covers and cannot be heard through a door.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is easy to care for. Since the insertable portion is 100% silicone, it is not porous. You can't boil it because of the motor and plastic portions, but antibacterial soap and water will keep it nice and clean. Because it is waterproof you don't have to worry about avoiding any portions when cleaning. Because of the plastic base it cannot be fully submerged in a 10% bleach solution. It is possible to dip the insertable silicone portion of the vibrator in a bleach solution. I'm clumsy and would probably drop it, so I wouldn't. Since it cannot be fully sterilized, be sure to use condoms if you plan on sharing the toy.

The Tryst 3 can be used with water based lube; silicone lube will degrade the toy. Oil based lubes are not recommended by Eden Fantasys for silicone toys. There seems to be debate on the internet about this, but it is hard to know what sources can be trusted. I would say, better safe than sorry, and stick with water based.

I store my toy by wrapping it in a lint free cloth in my toy box. It doesn't attract to much lint, but you should check it before use just in case.

Packaging

The toy comes in a nice see through plastic box with a plastic tray inside which holds the tryst 3. It would work well for storage but is not discreet. While there are no tacky naked people as decoration, you can easily see the toy. This could be a pro or con for storage depending on your need for discretion.

The back of the box lists the Tryst's features and has an illustration of the vibe. On the illustration there are arrows pointing out the power switch and the function switch. Through some glitch they are backwards. not really a big deal as there are only two buttons.

The box is classy but not super nice and I could see it working well for gift giving.
    • Good for storage
    • Minimal

Personal comments

I debated a long time between giving this toy three or two stars. If I could I would give it two and half. It was pleasurable, but it doesn't seem to work for its intended purpose. It also annoys me that the product page specifically says "strong vibrations" which is completely inaccurate. In the end I decided that I did get some pleasure out of it, and it was very comfortable, so I gave it three.
Follow-up commentary
I use this toy even less now that I am single. It was good for being teased with, but I don't tease myself when I masturbate. I still think it could be used for a warm-up, but is just doesn't work for me.

Wonderful review, VS. I think you're probably a strong enough writer and know enough what needs to be put into reviews that you could switch to the Standard form, so you don't wind up repeating yourself.

One side note: Eden doesn't recommend oil-based lubes for anything because oils weaken condoms, even if oil-based lube was used on a toy hours before condomed sex. So if you're fluid-bonded, oil-based should be no problem as far as silicone material is concerned, but there's a very fine reason Eden doesn't recommend them.

But anyway, great review! Well done finding a silver lining for a rather weak toy.

You can sterilize silicone with a 10% bleach solution
  • Contributor: Vegan Silk
@jobthingy, I suppose you could swirl the silicone end in the bleach solution, but I would be concerned that it could damage the buttons or battery compartment cap if you fully submerge it. This could reduce its ability to perform in water.

@jobthingy. I've updated the review to mention the plastic base and my concerns about using a 10% bleach solution.
