One habit I'm glad I started!

The Rabbit Habit consistently brings me to orgasm every time that I use it, and has the added bonus of being made from a body-safe, phthalate-free material. When combined, the fluttering ears and rotating shaft feel absolutely amazing. While this toy is not waterproof and I enjoy using toys in the shower, this hasn’t detracted from my enjoyment of it. I’d recommend this toy to anyone who is new to rabbit vibrators or would like to add another one to a growing collection.

Use

The Rabbit Habit is intended to provide dual stimulation as the rabbit ears tickle the user’s clit and the shaft penetrates the vagina. Since the large rabbit attachment would prevent the toy from getting lost, I suppose that this could also be used anally. You could either insert the shaft into your vagina and position the ears so that they tickle your anus, or insert the shaft anally and have the ears tickle your perineum, provided you clean the toy afterward and use a condom.

Material / Texture

This toy is made of 100% elastomer, meaning that it is phthalate-free and latex-free. It's relatively body-friendly and safe, especially for users who react to chemicals in toys made of jelly or similar materials. However, elastomer is still more porous than silicone or glass. The tracked pearls in the shaft seem to be made of a hard plastic, and the base of the toy is plastic as well.

The Rabbit Habit is squishy and pleasant to the touch, much like a soft vinyl or plastic children’s toy minus the strong rubbery scent. When I sniff the toy, I can pick up an extremely faint plastic-y smell, but I don’t think it is noticeable unless you hold the toy right up to your nose.

Design / Shape / Size

The Rabbit Habit is a translucent purple, meaning that the gears and tracked pearls inside of the toy are clearly visible. The shaft is phallic-shaped, with a bulbous head that is relatively realistic save the small smiley face where the frenulum would be on a real penis. There are also small bumps on the shaft that presumably are intended to provide texture or aesthetic appeal.

The toy is about 9” long including the battery compartment, with about 4” of insertable length. If you’re trying to decide if this toy is suitable for your anatomy, the tips of the rabbit’s ears hit about 2.5” down the shaft from the tip of the toy’s phallic head. Therefore, if toys with similar dimensions haven’t worked for you, then you shouldn’t buy the Rabbit Habit. I measured the head of this toy as 1.25” in diameter, meaning that it isn’t the smallest toy you could buy, but probably is okay for beginners. The fact that this is a dual-stimulation vibe will offer intermediate to advanced users a little something extra, even if this isn’t your first rabbit.

The ears of the clitoral stimulator are flexible to the extent that it is easy to bend and adjust them to rub against your clit and adapt to your individual anatomy. However, I would NOT necessarily say the same about the shaft, in spite of the fact that the insert included with the toy states, “Vibratex items that do not have fixed pearls are slightly bendable. Hold the vibe where the tickler meets the shaft and bend the top of the shaft gently, no more than 1/4 of an inch". I advise you to use EXTREME caution if you decide to do this, since the sentence after this warns you that you could strip the gears by adjusting the shaft with your hands. Also, I believe that the pearls on this toy are considered to be “fixed” since they run on a track, and therefore this notice might not be applicable.

I have read reviews of this toy where people have said “it breaks easily” and “the shaft is adjustable” in concurrent or near-concurrent sentences. Since I don’t know exactly what the circumstances were, I can’t say for sure that this is why those rabbits broke, but it is a possibility. For me, the angle of the shaft is fine the way it is, so there’s no reason to take such a risk. I’ve had my toy for about three months and the shaft shows no visible signs of wear. I’d try this ONLY if you find that this toy is absolutely not anatomically suitable for you as is.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Rabbit Habit runs on three “AA” batteries. The cover easily slides open to reveal the battery compartment, and there is an illustration inside that tells you which way to put the batteries in – it’s easy and simple, unlike some toys where this is included on a separate piece of paper. I found that the battery pack is very self-explanatory: when you are holding the toy upright in front of you, the switch on the left controls the rotating shaft, while the one on the right controls the vibrating rabbit ears. If you’re using and inserting the toy, the reverse will be true.

The lowest setting on the rotating shaft sounds like a slight hum, which is noticeable in a quiet room but should be easily drowned out by a shower or music on the radio. The highest setting is relatively loud and might still be heard over either of these distractions. The ears are somewhat louder than the shaft when they are in use and the shaft is not. However, when both functions run simultaneously, they decrease slightly in both volume and speed. While this could be a minus, I did not find that this issue detracted from my enjoyment and the decrease wasn't very noticeable.

One of my few gripes with this toy is that it is NOT waterproof, as the battery compartment isn't sealed and there are spaces under the switches that water could easily seep into.

Care and Maintenance

Elastomer is less porous than jelly or Cyberskin, but more so than silicone, and therefore can’t be boiled to disinfect it. Therefore, you should use a condom on this toy if you plan on sharing it with others or using it in more than one orifice. The manufacturer recommends cleaning this toy with a warm wet cloth and mild soap; I generally use Dial soap and warm water on my rabbit after I'm done using it. Water and silicone-based lubes are both suitable for use with this toy, but oil-based lubes could damage the surface of the material and should therefore be avoided.

It’s also very important that you take care when cleaning this toy: make sure that you don't splash or immerse the battery compartment, since this toy is NOT waterproof. I originally stored my Rabbit Habit in the box it came in, but now own an Eden Toy Pouch and keep it separate from my other toys that way. According to the included care instructions, the Rabbit Habit should be stored away from toys containing phthalates, as these chemicals could corrode the elastomer.

Packaging

The Rabbit Habit comes in a simple plastic box. The box is transparent and has the name of the product printed on a removable insert that is visible through the plastic. If you removed this insert, this could serve as a somewhat discreet storage box, provided you use a marker to cross out both the Vibratex logo and “the finest Japanese pleasure toys since 1983” printed at the top.

The outside of the insert features the name of the product, as well as specs and basic information about it. The inside talks about Vibratex and some useful tips about using this toy and how to properly care for the material. Highlights include warnings about removing the batteries when not in use, care instructions, and the warning that I mentioned earlier about adjusting the shaft.

Experience

This toy feels, in a word, AMAZING when in use. I could probably get off from just the clitoral stimulator by itself, but when the two are combined, it’s absolutely mind-blowing (a cliché, I know) and my orgasms are stronger and last longer than they do with my hand or other toys that I’ve tried. Sometimes I find that I need to re-position the rabbit’s ears over my clit in the middle of a play session. However, the ears are so soft and flexible that this is a very minor inconvenience at worst – plus, they generally stay where they are for a while after I re-position them.

When I use this toy, the rotating pearls are in the perfect spot to move against my vaginal opening and provide an interesting sensation. I have noticed that when I orgasm or clamp down on the rotating shaft, the speed of the shaft decreases slightly and the motors sound a bit “strained”. This worries me a little, but I haven’t had any problems yet after three months of use. I do have to emphasize that this is my first rabbit vibe, so I can’t compare it to any others. However, I definitely plan on changing this in the near future and adding many more of these to my toy collection!
Follow-up commentary
What else can I say? This toy is still a staple in my toy chest. Based on some of the other reviews on this site, I was somewhat concerned about this toy's longevity, but it has held up well for me in spite of frequent use. If the time comes when this finally breaks on me, I think it'll be well worth the money to replace it, but that time hasn't come yet.
