The Key Nyx by Jopen falls between a vibrator and a bullet; not quite as big as a standard vibrator and larger than a bullet, he's in a class of his own. With his size and shape, he makes a fantastic clitoral stimulator, but he can also be used internally. He's neither girthy nor long, so most likely only beginners would prefer insertion.

His vibrations are strong for his size and, as long as you don't need something extreme, he'll have no problem getting you off regardless of your experience level.

As cute as he is, don't use him anally. Due to his design, there is no stopper or flare, so he could very easily get lost with backdoor stimulation.

He is waterproof, just make sure you have the battery cap on securely. He makes a great buddy to shower or bathe with, and is so quiet no one will even know he's in there with you!

The Nyx is made entirely of stainless alloy and plastic, and comes with a lovely silicone sleeve which covers the majority of the vibrator. The combination of plastic covered with the soft silicone makes a firm, yet super smooth, feeling when it glides easily over your skin.

The actual vibrator has a raised section, which is visible in the product picture. If you have the sleeve on, this flows together and is not noticeable. But if the sleeve is off, there is a definite raised area. The sleeve has three grooves that run down each side, and although I could not feel these when inserted, they do add extra texture during external play.

A quality toy, there is no smell or taste, and no stickiness on the material.

Shaped like an overly large bullet, the Nyx works perfectly well for clitoral stimulation. He's thick enough to grasp and easy to keep a hold of. The size allows you to hit a wide variety of areas and apply pressure in ways you can't with a smaller bullet.

As far as internal stimulation, he vibrates, but that's about it. He's not long and he's not thick, so I don't really use him for penetration. He comes nowhere near hitting my G-spot, as there is no curve and he's rigid, not allowing him to flex at all.

The Nyx really is gorgeous to look at; mine is in lavender. The colors are rich and create a very nice visual effect.

Given that he's small and quiet, this baby is great for travel, as he can fit easily into any bag, even your purse!

The Nyx has 5 vibration settings, controlled by a button on the bottom of the vibe. You simply push it to turn it on, and push it again to cycle through the different functions. To turn it off, simply press and hold the button for 3 seconds and it shuts down.

1st setting: strong and steady - ZZZZZ
2nd setting: strong and thuddy - zZzZz
3rd setting: escalating
4th setting: pulsating - ZZ ZZ ZZ
5th setting: heavier pulsations - zz ZZ zz ZZ

The vibrations are surprisingly strong, given the size. They are powerful, although if you require a lot of vibration this probably won't do it for you. The second setting is pretty "thuddy" and it is by far my favorite. But it's not too strong and didn't make my hand go numb, even after 20 minutes.

The sound, even on the highest setting, is surprisingly quiet. And I mean really quiet. Under a blanket, it's barely even noticeable in the room, and can definitely not be heard through a closed door. It's quiet enough that, as long as your lover is not a light sleeper, you could most likely use it in bed beside them and they'd never hear it.

The Nyx runs off of 1 AA battery, which goes in at the bottom. My biggest complaint with the Nyx is the battery compartment. It's easy to take off, but getting the cap back on can become a challenge. I've done it a few times, and every single time I have to fight with the thing to get it on.

It seems to do pretty well with the single battery; I've gotten probably close to 2 hours out of it without having to change it.

The Nyx is easy to clean. I do suggest taking the silicone sleeve off when you clean it, as body fluids can (and will) slip down on the rim where the sleeve and vibe meet. But it's easy to take on and off, and so far there has not been any stretching or tearing.

The sleeve can be cleaned with toy cleaner, soap and water, by throwing it in the dishwasher, or boiling. It does have the grooves along the side, which are not too difficult to clean, but remember to pay special attention to them.

The vibe can also be cleaned with toy cleaner or with soap and water.

It is waterproof, and I have had no issues with water leaking into the battery compartment. If you use it in the bath or shower, be sure to make sure the cap is on tight; best practice is to take the batteries out afterwards and check that there is no water in the compartment.

It comes with a lint-free storage bag, which is fantastic, because you don't want it to touch any other silicone toys. Also, be sure to use only water-based lube.

Jopen outdid themselves when they packaged the Nyx. He comes in a beautiful box, and although a black, drawstring bag is included, the box is also great for storage as it's sturdy and he's nice and snug inside it.

It's not the classic "sex toy" packaging, although it does have a picture of the toy on the back. It adds a quality aspect to the toy and is nice enough to be used as a gift.

There are instructions included, and a pamphlet for how to care for the Nyx.

I've been using my Hitachi for over a year, so I can handle strong stimulation. Although the Nyx isn't that strong, it is by far the strongest vibrator I've come across of its size. It's easy to use during intercourse, which is a huge bonus for me, and can also be paired with other toys. Overall, I'm rather pleased with the quality, and I'm glad I've got this in my toy box.
