Wand massager discontinued

Warm-n-glow? Well...it glows...

While it may not have warmed up during use to a point of being able to feel the warmth, I have certainly warmed up to using this device! I generally stay away from the hard plastics because the whole thing vibrates, handle included, and this one is no exception. It was very nice and did wonders for adding to a massage though! It won’t live in the “toy drawer," but it does have a home in my desk drawer for use on sore muscles.

Use

This is a strong little vibe! Unfortunately, it also sounds like a jet engine. I think this particular vibrating “device” is best used on sore muscles and at the low speed. In my experiences with this toy, the higher setting is just too high to be felt at all because everything it touches goes numb! I did a little test to see if it ever did warm as it claimed to as I couldn’t feel any warming action while using it. So I turned it on and set it on the counter away from me, I checked every thirty seconds or so and it took roughly 3 minutes for it to warm up to a noticeable level. After 3 minutes on my skin, I never would have noticed a temperature difference! It does hold that heat well though, subsequent uses within a few minutes will have retained the heat well and start up “warm," but I still couldn’t feel a heat difference while using.

I would not recommend that this be inserted at all; run it across the surface of your skin and, if necessary, use something else for insertion.

Material / Texture

I hate calling this a “toy” only because it has been relegated to my office desk for use on sore and tight muscles and does not hold a future in my sex toy drawer...so for the review, I’ll stick with calling it a “device” instead!

The device is hard plastic (ABS) with a PU cote...meaning that it isn’t a shiny hard plastic; it is a matte, finished hard plastic. The texture is more of a soft, satin-like feel but obviously plastic. There is/was no smell to it; however, since the box arrived open, it may have had a slight smell to it that aired out as it traveled to my location.

There is a seam where components meet about 2 1/4 inches from the tip. It is not noticeable while in use though, just watch it to make sure it is cleaned!

Design / Shape / Size

As a massager, the design is good and easy to hold onto. The entire device measures to 7 inches, but 4 and a half of those are all handle! It is more like a small massager (in the shape of an egg that has been rolled to be more slender and a little longer) with a nice big ergo-friendly handle. If the handle didn’t transfer so much of the vibrations to the user’s hand, the handle would be excellent for those who have a harder time holding on to the smaller items like the bullets or eggs. As it is, my hand went numb fairly quickly.

I don’t think this is an “easy to hide” device as it looks like it is supposed to be a sex toy. Mine is currently residing on the top of my desk, but it is small enough to be tossed in a drawer if need be. Not that it is very “small” though! It measures 7 inches long by 1 1/2 inches at the widest part. I won’t be traveling with this device as the push button control is just too easy to bump into the “on” position while packed. With the batteries taken out, I may take it though. In the car on a long drive, this would be perfect for a quick neck massage while parked at a rest area.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The functions on this device are pretty much laid out in its title. Besides vibrating, it (sort of) warms and it “glows” by way of 3 little red lights in the tip. The lights are all in line with one another and are located on one side of the “user end." The lights play double duty as the portion that also creates the warming sensation. Many rows of lights on all sides of the tip/head probably would have made this more fun to use in the dark as well as helped it actually warm up. Because the warming action comes from the lights, you can’t see the glow effect while using it!

The entire device vibrates from the push-button control located at the base all the way to the tip! However, the strongest of the vibrations are felt at the tip/head. As for the controls, it is a simple push-button: once for low-speed, twice for high-speed, and a third push will turn the device off. My only complaint with the controls is that when handed over to someone who is not aware of the “multi-speed” availability, they don’t find it until they go to turn it off! At least, that is what happened at my house when my partner decided he would give me a massage with it after he had received one.

As I mentioned before, this is a very noisy device! However, turned on to the high-speed setting and tossed onto the bed with the bedroom door shut, I could not hear it even though I was just outside of the door and was listening for it! I was actually a little shocked. I was sure I was going to be able to hear it. Against skin, it is quite a bit louder, but I think it is still safe to use if you are looking for something the neighbors can’t hear.

Care and Maintenance

For cleaning, a little antibacterial soap and water should be good if needed. Your favorite toy cleaner would also work. For the most part, we are using this on necks/shoulders/nipples and the like, so there hasn’t been a need for any clean up.

If you choose to use this for insertion and/or need to use lube, anything should be okay (water-based or silicone), but I only use water-based lubricants because I have a fear of accidentally melting a toy by using the wrong lube. I have yet to hear of a toy that required silicone and not water-based, so I play it same as far as lubes go! Just remember to wash it up when you’re done.

Store this one with other ABS toys or on its own (in with the stationary maybe). I am still suffering the loss of a toy and an expensive toy bag from a melted silicone toy, so I would always recommend separate toy storage!

Packaging

I mentioned above that the packaging was opened when I received this device. The box it comes in is a very thin cardboard box with all the information and a few photos on all sides. The top had been pulled open, I imagine to double check the product’s color as it was offered in shades of pink, purple, and blue, but the box does not indicate what color the product inside is. The product color did match the color of the one photographed for the box, but I am not sure if that is true with all color choices. The device was also wrapped in a plastic bag that was obviously made for the device, so I wasn’t too worried about an open packaging box.

Personal comments

I did test this as a “toy” but found the amount of vibration in such a small amount of space (1-inch by 2 1/2-inches) to be a little too much to feel “good." It works much better for us at getting a tight muscle in the back of our necks or backs worked out! When used as part of a massage given to me by my partner, it had me moaning almost immediately though! It was that good at getting deep into the muscles of my back! Having this little device running around on muscles that were very tight (due to a bad mattress and poor sleep for several nights) was extremely pleasurable. I have even wedged this between my neck and my office chair a few times when a muscle in my neck or shoulder has started to really hurt. The device itself does have a sticker warning not to use it on unexplained calf pain, but that is the only muscle it warns against.
Follow-up commentary
The warming action is still not something either of us can detect and for the most part, this is just sitting in the drawer taking up space. However it is nice to drag this one out every once in a while, it just hasn't gotten much use recently!
