Hannah Harper's butterfly vibe - g-spot rabbit vibrator discontinued by Pipedream - review by Alicia

I couldn't wait to receive my Hannah Harper Butterfly Vibe by Pipedream. I'd never used a dual stimulating vibe so I was curious to see what all the hype was about. As with all things you never know if you like something until you try it. Well, I'm happy to say that this toy didn't disappoint and has single handedly made me amongst the many fans of dual stimulating vibes. The butterfly vibe is meant to arouse your clitoris with its butterfly shaped stimulator while at the same time its g-spot finding shaft excites you internally.

This vibe has proved to work out well for both solo use and also for partner play, however; since this vibe does both internal and external stimulation at the same time I like this toy best for solo use. I usually prefer during partner sex to have a toy that allows my husband to also be stimulating me with his hands/mouth etc. That's not to say that this toy can't make its way into couple time. It works out great for use while I am pleasuring my husband, for shower fun, etc.

Hannah Harper's butterfly vibe is made of TPR silicone. It's phthalate free and hypoallergenic. The vibe is soft and pliable and has a very smooth texture, similiar to pure silicone. There is a bit of a drag to it though so I recommend using a water based lubricant so that it glides easier.

The g-spot head has rounded nubs for extra stimulation. The butterfly itself has bands around the body that do add a bit of texture and these can be felt more then the internal g-spot nubs but are not overwhelming. There are antennae on the butterfly that are probably one of my favorite features of the toy. They are rounded and soft and don't poke at your sensitive areas but rather flutter over it and provide quite a nice sensation, especially when the toy is on its high setting. I particularly liked the shape and feel of these antennae because my concern with some of the dual vibrators has always been that the protrusions from the clitoral stimulator seem like they would be too pointy or would poke against me. The wings of the butterfly are also a nice feature because they add some extra surface area of stimulation and these too flutter slightly, just not to the extent that the antennae do. I found they worked well to hug against me which added to the level of clitoral arousal.

There is a slight smell to the material, it's rubbery but not particularly unpleasant. This lessens each time you wash the toy, so it's not a huge concern. I washed the toy right away after receiving it and it lessened the smell to the point that it wasn't noticeable unless I actually put it up to my noise and sniffed it. Since this isn't really a common practice of mine while using a toy, that worked enough for me. Since then I've washed it quite a few times and it really does not have much of a smell to it at all anymore.

Overall I loved the design of this dual vibe. The color is a really pretty, bright bubble gum pink and the butterfly on it is adorable. I don't normally like the cutesy animal vibes but this one has converted me! The size is adequate while not being too large. The insertable length is about 5 inches with the tip being the g-spot stimulator. I like the angle that the butterfly is on, it was definitely made with a woman's body in mind. The size would be suitable for a beginner or someone more experienced that just does not like an overly large shaft. The shape of the shaft makes it easy to insert, but because of the material I'd still recommend some water based lube, especially if you are not already aroused before use.

As far as using this toy for g-spot stimulation I didn't feel that it really hit the spot, at least not easily. This could be based on a few different things. First the tip is extremely flexible. It can be bent rather easily and I find I need more direct pressure on the g-spot then the flexing allowed this toy to offer. There also is not a large curve to the shaft of this toy which didn't help the toy to reach its desired place. Since it does flex so easily it could be moved in the correct way to get to the spot but having the butterfly clitoral vibe it doesn't make that overly easy. That's not to say that it can't be done, I was able to find some positions to use this toy in which do allow for a more direct g-spot stimulation, particular sitting up while using it, if you play around with it you can definitely get this toy to get you where you wanna go. So, the flexibility of the shaft can either be a pro or a con, depending on how you want to use the toy. It's great for thrusting and for "riding" the toy, but without doing some maneuvering it doesn't hit the spot on its own.

The butterfly part of the vibe I really liked. It does its job and it does it well. It's soft and pliable and that allows you to use this part of the toy with varying positions and amount of pressure all with great result. You can have the shaft of the toy not quite fully inserted and this allows you to have a light flutter against your clitoris with the antennae or you can have the body of the butterfly hugged against you for more direct and intense stimulation. Both give great vibrations and feel wonderful so whichever works out best for you or a combination of both.

What made me really want to try this toy in particular was its dual motors. It has a vibrating motor both in the head of the shaft and in the clitoral butterfly at the base. Another feature of this toy that I especially like is that it's completely waterproof so your new butterfly friend doesn't have to just be used in the bedroom.

Both motors do a good job of delivering vibrations. There are 7 different settings, the first 3 being low/med/high stages of solid vibration and then 4 patterns: escalating, pulsation, fast pulsation, and a pattern of pulsation with a longer end pulse. The vibrations are pretty strong but are not overly intense. I didn't find the strength of the vibrations to be lacking, but I have felt stronger and they were more on the level that allows you to gradually build up to an orgasm rather then being a knock your socks off as soon as you turn it on type intensity.

All of the settings were extremely quiet, the low one is barely able to be heard at all. In fact when I used this toy with my husband and he turned it on I could not hear it and asked him if it was not working. Once touching me with it I could tell it was definitely working and was just ultra quiet! This is a big plus in my book as I'm able to use it without the kids wondering what's going on in mommy's room. The noise level is also perfect for using in the shower as the water running will be louder then the vibe itself so as long as you can manage to stay quiet while using it (won't be easy!) then it's entirely discreet enough.

The motors are not independently controlled, which makes the use of the vibe simpler but it would be nice to have an option to use one vibe without the other. I found that the clitoral stimulator did so good of a job that I was needing a break from those vibes but still needing some more time with the shaft vibes. Unfortunately with this toy you either need to keep going with both the vibes or have none. I did try turning the toy around but with the angled g-spot head that did not give comfortable results and ultimately I needed to switch off to another toy without clitoral stimulation to finish.

The controls of the butterfly vibe are two buttons at the bottom of the toy. There is a designated on/of button and then another button that cycles you through the different vibrations. These buttons are differently shaped and sized but when you're just going on the feel of them with your finger tips and can't see the buttons they can feel the same and so you need to be careful not to accidentally hit the on/off button. If you do hit the on/off button and need to turn the toy on again it starts off on the low setting. It's not hard to get back to the setting that you were on, but it is distracting, so just be extra careful not to hit the wrong button if you're getting close to orgasm!

This vibe also has an added feature of an LED display that showed what pattern you were on. This isn't all that useful when using the toy solo as you can't see the light while you're using it but it is helpful for your partner if they're using it on you as it allows them to see what pattern they have it on.

Hannah Harper's butterfly vibe should be kept clean by using a mild soap with water after each use. Clean up was fairly easy, although extra attention is needed on the textured areas of the toy, especially the nubbed head as I found that soap would gather there. If using a lubricant with this toy be sure to use a water based one since silicone could damage the material of the toy by bonding to it.

The toy does pick up lint and/or hair very easily. What I've found to work best for me is to wash the toy and then either use a lint free cloth or allow the toy to air dry before putting it away. I've kept the packaging that it came in and keep the toy in the case once it's completely dry. This way I don't need to worry about it picking up lint, dust or pet hairs between uses.

While this toy is phthalate-free and hypo allergenic, TPR silicone is porous so a condom should be used if sharing the toy between partners.
