BDSM Books?

Contributor: Not Here Anymore f/k/a Happy Lady Not Here Anymore f/k/a Happy Lady
I have recently moved from light play (light spankings) to definitely more serious & intense play (heavy physical & psychological acts). I am the dominate person in this situation.

I need a book, or some other source of advice, not only on serious BDSM play safety, but something that also address good aftercare techniques.

Your thoughts?

I can't recommend a book cuz I've read very few and liked even less but I can recommend a terrific blog site for beginners to BDSM. link The blog has quite a few articles on beginner stuff and a PHENOMENAL article on aftercare.

Happy Lady, I know the *perfect* book for you! It's one of my absolute favorites. It's called "Screw the Roses, Send me the Thorns" by Molly Devon and Philip Miller, I think...I'm bad at remembering authors' names, lol. Please do look into purchasing it! It's a great reference to have on hand. I read it from cover to cover and I will never get rid of my copy

I'm a fan of The Loving Dominant by John Warren. covers a wide range of topics.

I also suggest Screw the Roses, Send me the Thorns. Also however, the best source of information will be your submissive. Taking things one step at a time, and being sure to listen and gauge their needs.

I am a submissive myself, so if you want to ask questions of me, feel free to contact me.

Thank you everyone!

I've ordered a couple of books and looked at the website Carrie suggested. If I get time maybe I'll review the books.

The only BDSM book I've read was The Loving Dominant. I liked it when I read it. I was a beginner back then.

Now? Now it doesn't apply to us at all. But it's a good jumping off point, I think.

I've heard great things for S&M101 and really enjoyed "The New Bottoming Book"

I just finished SM 101 and loved it. Jay Wiseman is a fabulous author and brings a lot of things to light that most people don't think of when starting out with more intense play

These guys have the best list of droolworthy BDSM books. Not sure if they'll sell to the general public, but they may. You can always email them and ask.

Female Domination...Elise Sutton...controversial but essential
Wild Side Sex by Midori...light but good pointers
Family Jewels by Hardy Haberman
Bondage for Sex by Chianta Rose...my first bondage basics books, voers safely the essentials

If you want to learn about knot tying, either Complete Shibari by Douglas Kent or Two Knotty Boys should get you ready
