My partner and I are both interested in the idea of collars, and think they would be a good addition to our bdsm. Previously, we've never done any sort of collaring, nor have we with other people. It never appealed to me before now. Yesterday, my partner told me about a bandana fetish, and wants to "collar" me with a bandana tied to my thigh before sex. I was really excited about this, and think it's a great way for us to practice the idea of collaring but not use a collar, since neither of us are really that into collars at this point. We also only want to use it during play, especially since wearing a bandana on my thigh wouldn't really work for everyday use the way a collar could look like a choker necklace. For those of you who have (a) steady partner(s) with whom you play frequently, do you use an alternative, or just a collar, or nothing like this in your bdsm?

I use my dog's old collar for now, because I have not found an affordable cool one yet.

Sometimes I feel bad, like I am appropriating something from the BDSM/ kink community because I use collars just because I think they're hot, not because they have any symbolic meaning for me.

I currently have no partner/ no one to collar me, and I can't imagine wanting anyone to collar me in the future. I do not plan on having a collaring ceremony, or anything like that.
