I personally prefer using R.A.C.K [Risk Aware Consensual Kink] when I play.
R.A.C.K or S.S.C....Which to you prefer?

what difference is there between the two? I've only ever heard SSC

I prefer RACK. It acknowledges that their is a risk to play, but that play can be made safer if we are aware of the risks and the ways to minimize them.

RACK! If I'm going to do dangerous and fucked up shit to someone, I want them to know about the risks of what we're about to do and be ok with them. (Or, if they're not, pick another activity or partner.)

SSC = Safe Sane Consensual
The intent of RACK is education and awareness. You should try to know as much as you can about what you are doing...be aware of the risk. Do you consent or have consent - and also know the different forms it takes. If you are aware of your risk and you consent to it - go forward. That is the "spirit" of RACK. There is no, "this is safe and this is not." There is only safer and less safe.

Oh and for me, while I started out SSC I have been leaning more towards RACK these days.

Just realized I wrote their instead of there. Terrible. Sorry!

i think the spirit of both good, so generally i'm happy with either. i have my rules as i think everyone should. i do tend to agree that RACK is the more accurate term, inclusive term.

R.A.C.K. I like knife and breath and fire play, which all have a good deal of risk associated.

Being involved in the local kink community, it seems like SSC is usually followed by the people that are new to kink and just want to start out with light play. The term "safe" will put newer people at ease. However, will heavier players into things such as knife play, there is not real way to follow SSC. The play that I do honestly cannot be called "safe", and most likely isnt very "sane" either, but it is consensual.
RACK states that just because there are risks involved, does not mean that we cannot enjoy it. It presses people to be educated on the risks of the play so that you are aware of what you are doing and enjoy things like edge play.
Neither SSC nor RACK are wrong, they just apply to different kinds of play and people.

RACK, because I play too hard for it to be considered SSC. There is risk. It is NOT always safe. And it is not always incredibly sane. But it is consensual, and we take the risk knowingly.

I feel like they're both good terms but RACK is better in my opinion. I feel like it's better to know that there is risk involved and still consent to it.
