Do you have a price range you're looking to stay in? Size preferences for dildos?

Confirming what sloppy donkey said, price does matter for sexual toys. I've found from personal experience that toys below $30 are crappy (of course, exceptions do exist).

Now, I can only recommend what I've experienced. As for materials, go with silicone. Really. I consider it the best material, although cyberskin can be a second option (but it needs special care).

If this is the first time that your husband will take a dildo anally, then he might also want to start with a small butt plug so that he prepares/get used to it.

While I consider 'double dildoes' like the Feeldoe ones to be the best for pegging (mostly because *you* will *also* get pleasure), it might not be ideal for first timers. So if that is the case, then a standard 'one-way' dildo would be good.

Congratulations on being open enough to try strap on sex. You both will love it.

My wife and I have been doing it for years. We have two harnesses- Bend Over Beginner Kit and Buzz Me Tender. Both harnesses have pockets for a small vibrator for clitorial stimulation while fucking the guy.

The Bend Over Beginner Kit comes with two small silicone dildos. We began by using this, but we rapidly went to larger dildos. Our favorites are Vibrating Mistress and Vibrating Leisure. We have several other dildos that we use occasionally. We much prefer silicone dildos.

A word of caution about size. The maximum diameter that is comfortable for me is 1 1/2 inch diameter, but 8 inch length is fine. I have no problem taking all 8 inches.
Use lots and lots of lube. We use Wet Original.

My wife gives me a handjob while she fucks me. Using the Buzz Me tender Harness we usually cum together.

Our favorite position is with me on my back. In this position she can easily reach my dick.

Have fun fucking him.

Get a separate harness and dildo. For a harness get a good mid-price model - cheap ones don't work well (so you don't have a good time), and expensive ones are wasted money if you decide you don't like using it. Look at the mid-priced ones from Sportsheets or Aslan (the Vegan Commando seems to work well for us, but others don't like that style).

For the dildo do go silicone - it's much more sanitary and safe. Get something smooth with at least 5.5" of insertable length. Shorter ones tend to fall out when you start thrusting, so I don't recommend them. A smooth finish is better for starting out, and a head can be nice for added stimulation, but make sure that you pick out the dildo together so your partner is OK with it. Sometimes if it's too real looking he won't be comfortable with it, which makes it hard to relax and enjoy.

If possible try to get a dildo in the 1.25-1.5 diameter range (or bigger if he's comfortable with it). Smaller dildos can be a bit too floppy.

Make sure that you do plenty of anal play before trying pegging. Work up to the size of the dildo that you're going to use and figure out what feels best for him.

There is much to think about. Maybe you need a lot of research.

The Vixen MIstress is a really great place to start. Smooth, 1-1/4" diameter, and comfortable. Not at all intimidating.

There is alot of variety amongst harnesses... narrowing down your preferences is going to help alot.

One strap or two? It's the difference between a jockstrap and a thong

And, as others mentioned, what material would you like? I would highly recommend leather for durability and sex appeal

There are also new harnesses on the market like the RodeoH that combine the comfort of underwear with and integrated O-ring for strapping on a cock, so you might check out those.
