After making my own under-bed restraint system for the boyfriend and I, I've been itching for more DIY toys that I wouldn't be able to buy anytime soon, and I've been dying to try a spreader bar, it looks like this is going to be my next project! Thanks for the tutorial!

and jankit, I agree, we should totally have a DIY section, I have things both to share, and to ask about! I think it'd be a productive forum.

LOL. I made one after just looking at some pics of others. I used a wodeen dowel, as mentioned above, but put two eye hooks at the ends for her legs then two more eye hooks about 9" inside the others to attach her wrists.

This works very well to keep all four limbs restrained. I also bought two sets of two velcro cuffs and four light weight climber quick-release hooks to attach all the cuffs to the bar.

I know this is an old thread but I made a very easy spreader bar. Home Depot or Lowes sell wooden dowels in different lengths and thickness. I used a 30 inch by 1 inch dowel. Then I bought two stainless steel threaded eye bolts and simply screwed one in each end. To finish it off you can spray paint the dowel. The cost was less than $12.

Two dowels sanded, then finished, then eye hooks screwed in works well too. Very cheap and easy and fun.

Just finished ours. A leftover wooden closet rod and a couple of screw eyes. Very simple project.
