That's a wonderful idea to add-on as well. I am sure many of us on EF would benefit!

That would be a great idea! It's like a student fresh out of college that wishes to become a teacher. Training and advice definitely helps

I do wish the points program was more similar to what it used to be. I use the website way less frequently than I did, and I find myself buying from other sites instead. The program was such a great incentive before! It's still good now, but it just isn't what it used to be.

There was a thread that concerned me and seemed to concern others that involved someone who had a mentor and was about to graduate anyways trying to circumnavigate the system and request votes for an upgrade. By doing this it is my understanding that they would screw their mentor out of the points for helping them along.

I like the idea of the mentor program as a necessity to upgrade because it increases the number of high level reviewers on this site which I think should be a goal. However regardless of how you upgrade, is there a way to make it impossible for people who have registered for a class to request votes to upgrade? It seems a little skeezy that people would try to do that in the first place and I think it would be helpful to have a safe guard against it

Or if someone is already up for vote, then they shouldn't be able to ALSO at the SAME time request a mentor. They should only be able to request a mentor BEFORE they are advanced or AFTER they have been voted in, that way, we as mentors will know if they are advanced or not, since some people do not want to mentor someone that is already advanced because we don't get compensated for it. Not that we all do that, I've accepted people that were already advanced, but I KNEW they were. I just feel like we should have to check the community page every time we get a request just to make sure that person isn't up for vote currently.
There's still some flaws in the mentor program....

A contributor enrolled in the mentor program cannot go up for vote. We fixed that about six months ago.

I totally understand this! It's happened to me several times and it's frustrating, especially when we already have discussed and figured out a list for an assignment item.

Hey guys. Just as a heads up...

People who are in the mentor program cannot request a vote-in upgrade.

However, people who have already requested a vote-in upgrade *can* also request a mentor. We're working on this but, for now, my advice is to always check that list before you accept someone. Also, we have had some issues with the whole "writer" "advanced reviewer" "ambassador" label thing. Some advanced reviewers will have the title of writer on their profile so, really, until we can get things sorted out... ask! If someone signs up / requests you, ask them if they're already advanced or signed up for a vote.

Updates for you as things change, of course, but this is my best advice for now

I do believe Sammi is investigating and has been since yesterday. It's always best to message one of us instead of spreading the problem out on the forum, though. We have a really hard time taking care of things when we have to skip around for all the info and put out all sorts of fires.

The stock fire extinguisher is wee tiny and works best right at the source. Heh.

I didnt realize. I'm sorry. It was a concern that popped up in the thread on the forum and since this is designated to "ways to make eden better" I thought it was a valid place to bring it up.

Would it be possible to add some way to tell out-of-stock from discontinued items on wishlists?

I have a wishlist just for items which we really, really want — but which are out of stock. We've been thrilled to see several items on this list come back into stock recently, but more often than not, items on this list have ended up getting discontinued instead. I check the list almost every day.

What's frustrating is that there's no way to tell (that I'm aware of) whether items on the list are just out of stock, or whether they've been discontinued, without clicking them to bring up each item's product page. With dozens of items on this list, this is cumbersome!

Would it be possible to add some simple way to tell the difference, just by looking at the wishlist, without having to open each item? Right now, it's easy to tell whether an item is in stock or not: the shopping cart is greyed out if it's out of stock — and also if it's been discontinued. Would it be possible to add a third icon, maybe a cart icon with a red X, to signify that an item has been discontinued?

Or is there already a way to tell and I'm just missing it?

(I had posted this in a separate discussion in the Suggestions section; Virgingasms suggested I post it here...)

Many thanks!

I wish there was a way for people to vote products in. Maybe something you have to sign up and it has rotations like the editing program. I just think this would benefit because I will go on product pages in the "new" section and I'll see plenty of comments saying that they don't like it but the product is still going to be sold anyways. This doesn't always mean the product doesn't sale but it sure isn't a good sign and this is where you usually to products that get hightly discounted and then discontinued because no one wants to buy it. I just think it would be good if people could rate product before it goes up for sale (maybe just a picture from the toy in question and a short review) and people could vote it in or not. Maybe the people voting would have to leave a comment about why they choose to vote it on it not, or they could have a list of things that are common on why things don't sale and they could click those boxes as to why they don't want to see it sold. (high price, the material, cheap looking, look-a-like toy, non-attractive, etc)

Another personal thing I think would be great would be the ability to preorder things. If something is out of stock you could just pre buy it instead of having to check the product page every so often. If there was a problem with it looking out of stock instead of d/ced then the person could just get a refund. This could also help eden see how many they need to buy and certain items wouldn't get grabbed up so fast.

As an affiliate to the site, I have suggestions for the program. We need updated banners and I think the analytics (traffic reports) are off because I have used other analytics programs to track my links and I get way more(clicks) than it says on my reports here, but still no online orders. Ever. In years. All offline orders, 15% comission difference. Not sure what's up with that lol. I have had people explain that maybe that person clicked thru my link and either didn't buy anything or used someone else's coupon code. In that case, I brought the person to the site in the first place. If they order something, yet use someone else's code, I get paid nothing? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I am not trying to rant and hope it doesn't sound that way. I focus a lot on the affiliate program and do well at times with it and would like to do a lot more. Can we get an "invite friends of affiliate" banner, too? I edit the code to make them myself, but I doubt they get clicked because the banner doesn't match where its taking them. Thanks for reading!

On the Review Program: The 'Product Search' in the review program dashboard, to search for toys to order for review, irks me...I wish if it were out of stock or unavailable for review, that it wasn't on there. It would also be cool if there was a date when it became available for request. Thanks!

I like the idea of incorporating the mentor program into the process of becoming an advanced reviewer.

You can always make your own banner and put it on an alternate hosting site but leave the link the same. It's hard to explain, but I can walk you through it!

the (DIY)that Tim held before were good. I'd check them out as I ran across them. I didn't know where to look to even try to follow on a regular basis. Geting rid of half of the rabbits sounds like a really good idea to me, but that's just me.

I'd love to attend a workshop! I think they should happen at 1 set time and day weekly or whatever the frequency so everyone will know when to go. Maybe they should take place in the evenings because most people are off work then?

Points would be a bonus but aren't necessary for me. If you're worried about crappy attendance here is my thought: Maybe offer some points in the beginning just to drum up a crowd and lure people in, after the first few events you could decrease or stop the points from being given out. So maybe it would draw more attention and then once the points are stopped maybe people who might normally not take time out of their day to go to a workshop will stick around because they liked what they learned. A "came for the points, stayed for the content" kind of thing. Or the same idea with a random chance to win points throughout or a small raffle type deal? In the beginning. So it isn't set in stone "you get x many points for attending" and the people will show up and spam and leave. Idk I'm just throwing stuff out there.

I like the idea of having the event live while it's going on but then posting a transcript or the highlights of the note workshop for people who couldn't make it or just want a refresher on it.
Would the live part of it be by video or in a text format? I've been to online live events with either.

I agree with the person who said that it should be people who are educated on the subjects they're teaching. Misinformation is huge everywhere but there even more of it in sexual topics sometimes.

I second the frustration with the Product Search. There are DVD's that have broken links, and lots of products out of stock/discontinued. I don't mind them showing in results but it would be nice to be able to filter them out, maybe have a $.01 threshold instead of the $10 minimum, but also make sure the products are in stock if there is a price listed. Of course, this is a fairly minor frustration considering I am using it to search for either free or discounted products.

I really, really like the idea of being able to "special order" through Eden to get products that are discontinued, but I understand that some manufacturers are not allowed to sell right now (e.g. Nexus in the U.S.) or have gone out of business. Still, if the manufacturer IS offering it in the U.S. I'd like to be able to buy it through Eden.

Another question, and maybe this isn't the place, but are toys being held back until the review changes are in place? I see a lot of new toys listed as out of stock but there is a lot of lingerie, which recently moved from the free assignment eligible to buyout only. Is this just a conspiracy theory?

Thanks for all the hard work! I think Eden is a great site and great retailer overall, I love the community and the changes to the points do some to have cut down on inane single word posts.

I second the pre-orders. I've been wanting a couple of we-vibe items but they're consistently out of stock! (The lube I reviewed, Satin by Sliquid is also out of stock often and that's the only lube I use.)

Here's the suggestion I made in a different thread:

I would love to see some additional possibilities like the ones you can do with BBcode: cascading quotes, the possibility to edit quotes if there's just a short aspect you want to refer to or a quote tag if you quote from an external page.

That's what I would love to have.
