That would be nice but since we don't know who voted what, you wouldn't know which comment was for the crappy vote (unless it was the first vote on the review).

I actually received a "somewhat useful" vote from someone, and I happened to be online when it happened so I know who casted the vote. They then left a comment something like, "Thanks so much!!!!" So basically, if I wasn't online at the time, I wouldn't have known they made the crappy vote because from there comment, they make it seem like I helped them. I've also seen people vote on reviews (the first vote to the review), where they say basically the same thing "thank you so much!!!" but then give a terribly bad vote. I can see this being a mistake SOMETIMES but it should be rare... or at least less often than I see it happening.

I really, really enjoyed those contests and I thought they were a lot of fun and something the entire community can get in on and just kind of take a break from real life. (Especially the coloring contest; who doesn't love to color?) So we will have more things like that lined up in the future. I may even go grab some physical coloring books and scan in the pages (providing I'm not breaking some obscure copyright law).

from what I understand, it is not allowed to ask a person about their votes.

Well... I think we could do a call for contributors and anyone willing to put together a "workshop" for the Sensual Symposium (I'm sure we have plenty of massage therapists or hobbyists on the site) could put together a class explaining different techniques of different styles of massage.

The "class" could be offered as a video, text, or graphics.. or all 3 if someone wanted to put the time in (I would be willing to "transcribe" videos, if having a printable list of steps would help for those that can't pay attention to a video or have to be hands on following steps).

Of course I'm in no position to say that it SHOULD be done, but if we could do this I think the contributor who was selected to "teach" the class each month would certainly deserve some kind of points for offering their knowledge to the community. (I feel like noting that I wouldn't be a contributor for a class... I can give a hell of a backrub, but I'm not trained in massage.. so this isn't a shameless points grab ha ha)

It wouldn't necessarily have to be restricted to back massage either. There are different methods of massage for different parts of the body and I personally would love at least an intro to most of them. I realize we probably wouldn't be able to get into the more sexual types of massage (the tantric "sexual" types essentially), but that still leaves many avenues of information exchange open.

It might be a cool way to not only learn new things to do with lovers/partners, but to also learn more about our Eden compatriots. While we are essentially a community that revolves around toys and sexual products... anything that brings ANY community closer together in heart or in mind is always worth considering.

Is there anyway we could try some "digital" contests, or even mixed media? I'm always looking for great reasons to get creative!

I know not everyone is Christian.. but what about an Easter Egg hunt around easter? Set it for a certain time period, and hide eggs in different places (reviews, forum posts, promotions, etc.) Certain numbers of eggs earn different "prizes" Example:

1-10 eggs: 10 percent off an order
11-20 eggs: 20 percent off an order
21-30 eggs: 30 percent off an order

so on an so forth.. however it is decided by the powers that be. Potentially even throw in a few prize eggs (with the Eden logo and everything of course) that are to win a specific toy, or a set number of points?

Obviously, it can be worked around so that it works better... but just an idea I had!

Tantra could still be touched on in a this fashion, since massage is only part of it. Things like tantric breathing and the chakra balancing could still be taught.

I like this a lot! I was curious because although I'm not a "trained" masseuse, I have been an athlete and a dancer for a long time and I know a variety of massages and techniques for dealing with injuries, knots (like deep tissue massages) and the like. It sounded cool, but I didn't know what you were thinking of.
If it was an idea that worked out, I certainly would not mind hopping on board.

On the other hand, I have been a mindfulness practioner for 4 years and I could help with breathing and relaxation exercises and advice.

in the "gender friendly" products section, i'd love to see items that are already on eden added there to make them easier to find. like pumps and even some of the pocket pussies that can be used by transguys. i think it would be great if eden were to get some input from the trans community members here on eden regarding making changes to that section

I think different breathing techniques could easily be folded into the Sensual Symposium idea. Breathing differently and relaxing can increase sensuality like crazy!

After all, more oxygenated blood means better blood flow and better nerve function.

MrWilly, I promise this isn't a plug for me so much as it is to add to this, but I recently wrote an article for SexIs regarding this very topic. It has not yet been published, but I promise if the administrators like the idea, it can totally help feed the sensuality portion of your symposium idea!

Why wouldn't you promote your articles? I do! Takes a lot of effort to put a coherent article out!

The symposium idea was just me really throwing an idea out there, but in reality it could cover just about ANYTHING that can be discussed on Eden.

I think that would be a great idea for workshops. I can't guarantee this but just off the top of my head, we could probably send out a few massage candles/oils to test for "the best overall massage experience". We are an adult website, we used to run a Porn Club here, if enough people were interested we could definitely do something on tantric.

We've done scavenger hunts/easter eggs in the past. They are always a success and a lot of fun. I'll run it up the flag pole.

We've kind of gotten out of the graphic adult dvd business. It was good while it lasted and you can look through the meetings here: PC.

Ha ha. It sounded pretty exciting to me too
I guess I wish we had more opportunities to really really get to know each other through these events instead of just posting. Most people skip ahead in threads and don't read everything. I think these workshop type ideas might really help with that.

Trust me, I'm picking my brain to come up with something too

i have the same issue. one gave me the lowest possible rating and it really hurt. I work very hard on my reviews and i always add all the important information. so it was at least some what useful.

Oh well, i take the good with the bad and try to do better all the time.

i would love to see some type of classes. like flogging 101 where you share safety issues and ideas of where to begin or style. this could be applied to all sorts of sexual activities.

I think in general the instructional idea would be a good one. Massage, Breathing, Flogging, Restraints could all be different topics for different times. The trick would be coming up with the topics people wanted to know, finding the people with enough experience and knowledge to instruct, (since there could be a liability issue if someone got injured following instruction although, don't really know)and then deciding on if and what rewards for instructors or products provided etc. There are many curious minds out there in EF and people want to know Based on what I've read on the forum's I'm sure there are people amongst us who could actually lead some of these classes if they were to take places. I would definitely not be one of those people lol.

maybe it could even be expanded to include how to store you toys safely, how to clean leather bdsm gear and such. i wasn't thinking video type information. maybe like the diy meeting. idk. just an idea.

I think on the liability issue, it should be clearly stated in the first post that anyone who decides to try any of the physical instructables on here should do so at their own risk. Anyone on this site obviously has to be old enough to make decisions for themselves.

Very true. I was just saying I don't know how Eden would feel from a business perspective. Since I don't own a business and don't know the legal sides of it I couldn't even begin to speak on it. It may be just as simple as what you said.

And we would hope people on this site are old enough to make decisions but age doesn't always have direct relation to maturity level or even common sense

Also, I don't know if this is possible but a mobile app that was Eden community friendly would be AMAZING. Just throwing that out there, smash it if you like

Mobile app isn't really all that likely. Apple would refuse to allow it to be distributed, and Google wouldn't allow it in the market.

I've mentioned it before.. if someone felt like doing the coding work an android app could be distributed freely by Eden (or the coder) but it isn't very likely.
