Going along with this, maybe we can have a class that deals with the language of sex or terms used by different communities. I know we talk about things on our reviews and forums, but I still come across stuff I've never heard of. Or it can be incorporated into a workshop. How you said, Flogging 101, LoriandHubby, restraints 101. It might not tell people how to do something, but different types of restraints used, for what reason, for what kind of restrictions and safety concerns.

Just elaborating.

I don't know if this exists, my mentor wasn't very clear, but we should have a 'roll-over' for the monthly free toys for the reviewers. So if you don't get one one month, the next month you could take two at the same time. ... see what i mean? and maybe have limits on it as to how many can be rolled, or if a missed month can turn into a discount or added value for the next month's toy or something.

This doesn't exist, and while I'm just a lowly end-user/reviewer.. I don't see it being implemented. Someone could stop reviewing for several months and horribly abuse this.

It sounds like a wonderful idea, but the math and potential for abuse of this particular change would end up being devastating to Eden as a whole.

Example:

JaneDoeSexpert joins Eden, does the mentoring program and gets 2 items while going through the process and then disappears. She logs back in 2 years later, and has over $500 dollars worth of value she can use, or can take 24 different toys at one time.

Either way, Eden wouldn't be making any money on the investment because JaneDoeSexpert is more than likely not going to review 24 items, and if she bought a single expensive item, Eden loses out on the monetary end anyway.

Stormy, I suggested it once in a thread (I thought it was this one, I may be mistaken) but I was thinking a lottery type event (however often it worked out) would be cool.

Set a price in points for each "ticket" and all the points go into the pot. On day "x" a winner is chosen at random and takes all of the points (Eden could even take 10 percent of the points back out of the system, and the winner would still bank some serious points off of the EdenLottery)

I don't know how the logistics would work out on said lottery (or how to guarantee that the winner would be completely random) but it wouldn't technically cost Eden anything, as the points would come from the participants, and it would also technically increase the profit margin for the site as a whole as taking a percentage of the points from the "lottery" would effectively cut a percentage of profit loss due to point use.

The potential benefits outweigh the negatives that come time mind, as the more money Eden makes... the more Eden can offer.

Just a thought :-D

I know there is already a "mobile" version of the eden page when you go to it on your phone but from there you can't even log in so it's pretty pointless in my opinion. Oh well, that was short lived lol

Not to get to far off topic but....

wait what? this is news to me. I must have missed the one toy a month part. I didn't even know that existed. I've read all the rules and guidelines and what not but some of them I have probably forgotten if they stuck at all. Can somebody please enlighten me? I am very curious

You are limited to one free review item per month.

This doesn't count push assignments (assignments from the admin, that are assigned directly, and usually to people with no reviews outstanding)

Or Descriptive Review assignments (assignments where the reviewers job is to only describe and "sell" the toy)

or buyout assignments (30% discount in exchange for a review on any item on site)

Now, if you've only just started, and are going through the mentor program you can also receive 2 items through the mentor program in one month (or however long it takes you)

Eden has all kinds of programs that offer ways to get different things cheaper or free, if you are willing to provide some sort of service in return.

This is all good information and while I already know about push assignments and the other two you mentioned I had somehow overlooked over the most simple one. I would have asked someone but then again, I guess you have to know what to ask. Thank you very much sir!

Free monthly assignments are available to Advanced Reviewers only, the value of which is based on rank.

And to clarify (only because the way you wrote it could be misread), free assignments via the mentor program are limited to $30 and are not in addition to free monthly assignments for Advanced Reviewers who happen to be enrolled as students. It's either or.

Thank you for clarifying things!

It's never bad to have someone explain things again if something was missed or stated in an obscure way!

i just had an idea for an eden event.

instead of bring your daughter/ son to work day.. have a bring your favorite toy to eden day. dress up our toys for a best dressed contest.. maybe have a gofer scavenger hunt.

Since the monthly assignments are optional not mandatory I don't see why if you miss or fail to get an assignment why you should be able to get double or triple in the following months. You can get a 30% discount by doing buyout assignments.

Maybe a weekly game night or something for points or gc or something, like along the lines of name that toy or who makes it or name the price, I don't know, any type of games would be pretty cool to do or a trivia or a scavenger hunt, or maybe even mix it up, do some games one week, then trivia another and a scavenger hunt another week.

Also I think we should be able to edit our reviews when ever we like or maybe have an option of doing them over. I know some of my reviews suck and then after doing the mentor program I would love to do them over again, but can't since its been to long.

YYEESSS!! Omg I agree with you majorly on the second one (my first two reviews make me cringe now).

game night sounds fun too and I like the idea of a scavenger hunt

They must be point farming AND trying to increase their own rank. Because it would attract a lot less scrutiny if they just voted useful.

That said, I once voted somewhat useful on a review because while there were a lot of words on the page, there really wasn't a lot of important info I wanted. I then got a berating message from the person.

So I see both sides. Private voting means people will be more honest in their rankings because they don't have to fear retribution or hurt feelings, but it also opens the window for point farmers.

Yeah, it's a rock and a hard place situation really. I mean you can't expect everyone to be as invested in the programs or themselves as a community member. Even though it would make us all beyond happy. They eventually grow quite weary and fade into the darkness.

We've certainly taken steps to make it much more difficult to move points around between accounts, so there's really no incentive to have duplicate accounts any more.

Always open to suggestions, though. Suggestions are springboards for action and we'll work with what we can!

Maybe this is a little bit of a stretch, but how about an event that is called "Sex Devotionals"? Sometimes in a lot of forums when people have questions about experiences, horror stories come up that are then contrasted with a time it finally went well. Or just the horror stories, which then serves to cause more anxiety.

So for instance I'm thinking of a bad experience with anal, but then a good one that changed my mind. I suppose this teeters along the lines of an article, but instead of a how-to they would serve as encouraging stories for people who have had bad experiences, heard stories about bad experiences and so they are afraid to try something etc.

I haven't been around that long on Eden yet, but if there isn't anything that exists like this, perhaps we can do something like that?

As far as events are concerned, there's nothing I would like to see LESS of. I would like to see more chances for us to all get to know each other better though. It would be great if we could figure out some team events. That would be interesting. Team challenges? Something to get us all together and involved.

Team challenges sound like an awesome idea, though I'm not sure how it would be worked out? Maybe "sign-up" sheets?
01/10/2013

I know the coloring sheet idea has already been brought up... but what about some graphic/infographic design contests?

We surely have some skilled artists here, and it would be cool if there was a contest to have a design ran as the Eden logo for different holidays or certain events. (Could also take a little work off of the plates of those that get a paycheck to design these things for Eden)

Just a thought!

Yeah. Those willing to participate would sign up...not exactly sure what it would involve, but I'd like to see us all coming together for something fun.

We've been trying to launch team events for awhile, but there's one teeny (read: major) problem and that is the design of the forum itself. Once we get some programming changes in place we'll be able to do that.

It's a great idea. It's also a really ambitious idea and we would need to tweak it just a tad, but I'll brainstorm some options that will work in our platform.

Thanks for the speedy feedback!

I'd be up for trying just for the recognition (and the rights to include it in a portfolio if I chose to at some point lol)

I'm still brainstorming some!

Oh but I did want to say - before I forget - I do have about ten weeks of "getting to know you" stuff planned. That'll start Monday.

We've already got our events for Easter and Valentine's Day planned out.
