#BuildaBetterEden - Community Planning: Community Planning: January 2013 - Everybody welcome!

Contributor: Ansley Ansley
Hello everyone! Think of this thread as the official Community Suggestion Box. This month's focus is: Community Events for 2013. What would you like more of, what would you like less of? The mention of chat rooms is strictly prohibited.

CPM: December - 2012 - Suggestions for 2013 events

CPM: November - 2012 - Suggestions were made for easier communication and a ratings system for the Classifieds.

CPM: October - 2012 - Suggestions were geared towards teaching others how to navigate the site better, all where great suggestions and have been passed on to the next level.

CPM: September - 2012 - We talked about general improvements for the site, some of which will be implemented!

CPM: August - 2012 - We discussed community activities. There were a couple of good suggestions and we're still open to hearing more ideas on how to get the community together and fun things to do during those times!

CPM: July - 2012 - July's meeting was about the mentor program, and we were able to snag approval for a couple of those suggestions and hope to roll those out soon.

CPM: June - 2012 - June's meeting inspired a call for some changes, some of which have been implemented, others are still to come.

CPM: May - 2012 - Lots of updates and changes were made from these suggestions!

CPM: April - 2012 - Almost all of the suggestions made in this month thread requiring changes in programming and thus time to get implemented but all suggestions have been noted and administrators will be discussing them in the next couple of weeks to see what we can get rolling in the near future.

CPM: March - 2012) - First, month long thread to discuss your ideas which include requests for a different style of sorting features for the forum to filter out discussion types or users, update the forum categories,
easier search requirements for assignments, and the option to filter what shows on your wall. In addition to those requests, there were also requests for the ability to sort people you are following by who is currently online and who is not, forum moderation to purge/delete/merge threads, and the option to not a view a contributor's activity at all but still follow them.

Where we are as of March 31st, 2012: Requests have been noted, and due to an overwhelming response from the community Edenfantasys has instituted a Forum Moderator and updated the Expectations of Conduct. Please become acquainted with the new guidelines!

CPM: 02.16.2012 - Another short meeting. I announced a few changes in how some of the meetings were going to go. - Sam

CPM: 02.02.2012 - A very short meeting, we discussed some of the new features from the update.

CPM: 01.19.2012 - We spent most of the meeting discussing the new photo uploading feature.

CPM: 01.05.2012 - We discussed things that have been brought up in the past and what their status was, and also things we could do workshops on.

Price Match Guarantee

Something like what Best Buy has with their Price Match Guarantee.
Here is the page link

In summary, they let you buy items that are cheaper at other stores that within 25 miles. Say I want to buy a keyboard but don't want to drive 24 miles just to get it. Instead I go to the nearest bestbuy that is only 1 mile away.

To qualify to buy the item at the best buy, the local competitor's item must not be on sale and it must be in stock. Maybe somehow we can incorporate something like this on this site. Ofcourse this is an online store vs a retail store so some rules maybe have to be changed more rules need to be added.

The ability to "like" comments like Facebook on our forums would be nice.

What about a monthly "Sensual Symposium"... anyone that would be willing can teach others how to give different types of massages, or how to give a manicure/pedicure?

Okay, I really don't know if this is the correct moment to bring something like this up, but I rarely get here on time and lately, I've noticed something that I decided to bring up when 2 other people here on EF had the same issue and mentioned their frustrations also. So I'll just mention it right quick...

The new-ish review rating system. It used to show up the person's screenname who voted right out beside what they voted (poor, extremely useful, somewhat useful or useful.) These days, the person's name does not show up right beside what they voted for, and unless you happen to be seeing a review that's only been voted on once, you cannot know who voted poorly.

No, the problem is not necessarily know who voted what, but this system has made it to where a lot of people (the same people!) will go through and vote the same exact poor rating on every review everyday to get their points, but it's very unfair for them to vote so poorly on a very clearly EU review! Or the other way around. Either way, I know a few select people who refuse to stop, although they have been asked. I sometimes like to ask people what they thought I left out of my own reviews in order for them to rate poorly. Course you can tell the ones who did it just because when they never give you a reason.

Either way, the problem is that these couple of people are continually voting poorly on all reviews, whether they're poor or not. I'm about 95% sure that these people aren't even reading the reviews given how close in time they're rating different ones. For instance, it takes longer than 14 seconds to read and rate 4 whole reviews. Get what I mean?

Well, that's all I wanted to say, I guess. I just hope someone has an idea as to what may discourage them from doing this over and over. I also notice two of them who are repeat offenders also keep posting the same exact polls on the forums only weeks or months apart and they definitely don't stop, even when someone points it out every single time they do it.

I absolutely agree with this. I've received a quite a few "somewhat useful" all the way down to "not useful at all" since the change. I try to ignore it, but it's pretty annoying when I see it.

I think it would be very helpful if Eden accepted Paypal as a form of payment. Do they already do this, and I just haven't found a way to use my Paypal points? I looked carefully, but I can't find anything to indicate that they do accept it.

We recently removed PayPal as a payment option and replaced it with Google Wallet.

That's a neat suggestion. If one had the buying power of Best Buy, this would be an option. However, the adult industry is not really known for price-matching and strikes us as a little out of place. There are also other things to factor in - agreements, stock, yadda yadda yadda.

Is there a way to set alerts for private messages within the site and I'm just not seeing it? I know how to set alerts for everything else but I miss private messages because I don't remember to go in and check my inbox. Adding alerts for messages (assuming there isn't a way to do that already) would be super helpful.

I don't know what Google Wallet is, nor do I want to use it. I find Google to be infiltrating every little thing they can get their hands on down to embedding ads in your pages when you use their Chrome browser or utilizing your e-mail content to tailor ads within your G-mail.

Respectfully, I would not want to have anything to do with Google Wallet, I would be scared they were start advertising things having to do with my Eden purchases to me. I prefer PayPal. Why the change?

Thanks!

As it concerns more technical things like wall posts, can there be a way to delete things you post rather than only having the option to flag? Someone may have asked this before, but I am relatively new to Eden and it is one thing I have wondered often. The option isn't even available on our on "walls" and I would like to have it there too.

Ayumi, I have the same objections to Google Wallet that you do. Thank you for posting for me. I won't bother, because you have said it far better than I could do.

Any action that results in points being earned cannot be deleted by the contributor. This is to prevent abuse and trolling.

It was an executive decision to use Google Wallet; the usual payment options are still available.

I think it would be nice to see points issued for Recommending on Google or for Tweeting as not everyone uses Facebook

I agree pretty much with all of this.
I guess my only concern would be that people might deliberately then target and under rate users if they know who gave them a low rating. I'm not saying that it will happen necessarily, but it certainly might be an issue; a vicious cycle so-to-speak. Also, I would be concerned that people might not want to rate a poorly done review because they do not want someone to know their specific rating...perhaps. I wasn't here before so I do not know.

On the other hand, I realize a counter my concern would be it would give us the option to not follow people who were deliberately being unfair or be able to report such abuse, so I suppose it will be figured out. No perfect solution.

Unfortunately for me, this now means I have no way of actually giving you my money. I will still be active on the site because of the review and affiliate programs, but now if I want something that I don't have enough points or earnings for, I have no way of buying it. Oh well, I suppose exercising some patience won't be the worst thing that happens to me.

This is exactly the reason it was changed to a cloud voting style.

Are you mistrusting of using your credit card information on the site, or is it a matter of not having a credit card? Google Wallet has the same FDIC restrictions as Paypal and other third party vendors for online payments. While it's rather unorthodox for our particular model (as in 99% of users prefer to place their order online), you could call in and place the order that way.

I'm really liking the new Pinterest contest, maybe if we could somehow do more of them maybe or other contest like that. Also the holiday contest that we just had in the past 2012 year like th coloring pages, the gingerbread house, etc were as well fun, maybe if we could come up with some contest like that for each holiday.

As well as maybe looking into creating an app for the iPhones & androids, where we could access everything on our accounts now, as well as, write our reviews, vote on others, participate in the community forums, etc.

This is kinda related to kendra30752 and sktb0007's comments...I would really like a "why" feature added to the review voting. I don't mind receiving a "useful" vote...but I wish there was some sort of requirement that made it so when you vote you have to also give your reasoning for the vote. I don't know if this is possible, but it sure would be helpful for those trying to improve their review skills. I know I certainly look up to some of the top reviewers on the site, and I would love to be able to improve my reviews when they aren't rated as fantastic...
