#BuildaBetterEden - Community Planning: April 2012 - Everybody welcome!

Contributor: Ansley Ansley
Hello everybody! Welcome to the Community Planning Thread! This is similar to our previous Community Planning Meetings, only instead of being limited to meeting twice a month, this thread will be available all month long for you to post in. It will go up the same day the first planning meeting of each month would have, the first Thursday!

What's it for you ask? Well, we want you to have a chance to let us know what you think of the community and how it's going. Do you have something that you think needs to be changed? Ideas for how to make something better? Curious about hosting a workshop or something similar? Bring it here! Bounce ideas around with each other, and keep conversation going! We'll be watching and participating in this thread each month, so your ideas and thoughts will be seen.

If you like, you can read through some of our previous meetings to get an idea of what kinds of things you can bring up, or just have fun reading about the things we've talked about!

CPM: March - 2012) - First, month long thread to discuss your ideas which include requests for a different style of sorting features for the forum to filter out discussion types or users, update the forum categories,
easier search requirements for assignments, and the option to filter what shows on your wall. In addition to those requests, there were also requests for the ability to sort people you are following by who is currently online and who is not, forum moderation to purge/delete/merge threads, and the option to not a view a contributor's activity at all but still follow them.

Where we are as of March 31st, 2012: Requests have been noted, and due to an overwhelming response from the community Edenfantasys has instituted a Forum Moderator and updated the Expectations of Conduct. Please become acquainted with the new guidelines!

CPM: 02.16.2012 - Another short meeting. I announced a few changes in how some of the meetings were going to go. - Sam

CPM: 02.02.2012 - A very short meeting, we discussed some of the new features from the update.

CPM: 01.19.2012 - We spent most of the meeting discussing the new photo uploading feature.

CPM: 01.05.2012 - We discussed things that have been brought up in the past and what their status was, and also things we could do workshops on.

Because of recent threads, I've decided to upload pictures from my reviews onto the product pages. However, the upload process is a PITA to have to search and upload each picture individually. Is there any way we can get an easier method such as a drag and drop? I spent about 2 hours uploading old pictures last night and I don't think I'm even half way through my reviews.

I know I'm being nit picky, but more people might be inclined to upload pictures if the tools were easier to use.

Seconded. It's not so bad when you upload as you write the reviews (I can't imagine how many pics you're dealing with, Kindred!), but even just a mass uploader would be fantastic. Having to do them one at a time is slow and... bizarre? One-at-a-time uploads are so 2005.

I've mentioned this in another thread, and before to stormy`, but you know what they say: the squeaky wheel gets the grease! I think we should be able to rearrange our following/followers list, or at least have people that we've marked a relationship with posted at the top of the list so they are easier to find.

Wall stuff: I think almost everyone wants the 'Silverdrop set a lure' 'Silverdrop added the Mete-OH!-rite to her wishlist' 'Silverdrop added a follower' stuff to disappear from their walls. I don't even use my wall because even after I ruthlessly unfollowed 3/4 of my list, I still can't figure out how to tell what's going on. Maybe if I drop everyone and just follow one person for a while, I can work out how to use it? I don't know - it just really doesn't work for me.

I don't even know for sure how much of our activity shows on the wall, but what I really would use is if it shows when the people I am following write a review or follow-up. That's the main thing I'm interested in.

Promotions: This came up right at the end of the March thread, in response to the big sale. Right now there are hundreds of items on sale and no way to say 'just show me the silicone dildos' or 'just show me the lingerie available in 1X'. That keeps me, and probably a lot of people, from discovering items they might purchase, simply because there is too much stuff to filter through. Again the same problem of information overload.

Thanks for considering our suggestions!

I agree with your wall stuff. I don't pay much attention to mine. I'll catch a glimpse of something interesting every now and then, which is why I follow so many people, but I honestly get lost with it.

I'm going to say what I said in March

1st: When looking for my monthly assignment, I wish we could have the option of narrowing it down to items that have at least one, but less than three reviews on it. That would be so helpful to me. I spend way too much time each month searching and becoming disappointed to find something I like and see that it has more than the required reviews on it. I like the option we have right now that has no reviews, but I'd like for this to be a second option as well. Just my two cents.

2nd: After seeing all the sales that are currently available, I would like there to be an option to sort within the sale to narrow it down to your material preference, noise level preference, vrooms etc. and only have those that apply to what you set be able to be seen. (I know this option is available in the product search so it would be nice to be carried out in this section as well)

I definitely agree with the item sorting in sales. I said it on the last day in March, but it would be great to sort through the sizes of lingerie in the sale items. It's be awesome to be able to look at things like only sizes "1x and 2x or just Small. I'm a bigger girl, so most of the lingerie on sale doesn't even fit me. It'd be great to just pick out the stuff that does.

This. All of this.

I also think we should be able to customize our walls to only show what WE do instead of everyone else, or at the very least be given a filter to remove things we don't want, like lures/follows/etc.

I can certainly pass that along, because it's a programming change it may not happen overnight but I will definitely know you all are asking for it. Thank you Kindred!

Changes in programming take time to work out.

This is what I have on my list to pass on to the team that handles this:

- Customizing walls to show information wanted (remove lures, adds to wishlist, etc.)

- Sorting by size

- Better sorting for Followers/Following list

- More refined search for trying to find products for assignments

Did I miss anything?

I completely understand.
Thanks for adding it to your list!

Can I please request that the Editor/Proofreading page be updated with the current information? Also, perhaps either linking or listing the FAQ would be most helpful there.

I have to agree with this. Or at least, the ability to pick and choose what it is we see on our walls. And there's something above about sorting followers out, I think that's a good idea also.

I would like to work on a calendar for 2013, if that's possible. I know that with the Photography club no longer being active we might have to find someone to spearhead the project of starting the polls and taking submissions, but I think that if we get started a little bit earlier this year we can have calendars out in time for next year.

I agree with this.
It would be great to be able to get it before 2013 starts!

A little while ago I was approached by EF to head up a DIY club. Since my work schedule has changed I have time for it now. So I was wondering what folks though. It would be simple things that everyone could do, like changing a light fixture, patching a hole in the wall or changing your own oil on your car for example. We would have monthly meetings to discus that months topic and plan the next.

I think we could have a lot of fun and I bet lots of folks would be surprised how easy some stuff can be with a little direction. Even better is that I am back working at a big box store so for a lot of things I can even give prices and different options for some of the projects.

I've noticed a lot of posts on the forums about being down voted and I was wondering if there was any way to make it necessary for anyone who votes lower than a useful to post a comment as to why they voted what they did? I mean, I'm sure that we would get our share of " " comments from the lazy people, but perhaps it would encourage down voters to explain themselves? I think that if there was a true reason to down vote, that explaining it could make reviews better in the end.

"changing your own oil on your car"

I would LOVE this. I think the price that the dealer charges for an oil change is a form of extortion and I have plenty of time on my hands to do it myself.

I would like a page where we can view the entire list. Having to page through, five at a time is a pain.

This is a fantastic idea.
I once had someone give me a low vote because "the product was too expensive". Maybe people aren't really understanding what you're voting for? Maybe if there was something like a 1-5 scale like
"extremely useful- This review was very informative. It had all the right information, plus a little extra"
down to
"Worth reading, but not useful- The review doesn't really tell me anything about the product that I find helpful or will be able to use. It's still worth reading though."

I posted this in another thread, and was told to post it here. Guess I was in the wrong section lol. Good thing I found this one though! Going to be bookmarking it

"MY DISCUSSIONS TAB-BEING MY DISCUSSIONS ONLY-NOT ALL THAT I HAVE RESPONDED TO" and "MY DISCUSSIONS TAB UNDER MY ACCOUNT DASHBOARD-Easier access!"

I was thinking about suggesting something for the discussions. I was wondering if it would be possible to have some sort of section under our account dashboard for our discussion posts. I don't like how it says every discussion I have ever commented on under "MY DISCUSSIONS" tab under forums. I want to see MY discussions that I posted, not everyone that I posted to lol.

Also, if we could have a spot for our own discussions posted under our account dashboard, it would be easier to access them, rather than going to each individual topic to see our own discussions. I would like them all in one spot. I visit so many topics that its hard to go to every single one of them to see my posts, I forget about some of them too sometimes because I post in areas that I may not frequent very much. What does everyone else think?

i like it if there was a way to search for a specific type of material. If there were possible categories to narrow down a search without adding words that would exclude potential items that may fit your search.

You can. From any page, other than a forum page, use the search bar towards the top. For example, I typed "Silicone" and this is my results- link It does include lubes and or anything with the word silicone it it but you will get toys too.

Just make sure you do not start your search from a forum page as that will only give you forum topics.

Thank you Triple T for answering that!

Ok so we want improved searches for people we follow and to have just our discussion topics that we start under the respective tab on the dashboard.

Have I missed anything?

Sorry, this idea has been brought up many times and expecting people to explain every action or vote is kind of like asking the shy kid in the back of the class to do a presentation for the entire school.

I am really disappointed, my mentor sent in a few review requests and we waited over a month and still have gotten no where. Now she graduated me and the couple items that where open to review that had 3 or less at the time are no longer available.

It's possible they were already assigned when she made the request. Don't worry, new stuff shows up every day.
