Switch/Switch relationships can take many forms, really. You have the type I have with my lover, where one of us or the other will take the Dominant and submissive role depending on mood, but you also have the type where a switch will be in a relationship with a Dom and a sub at the same time, or those switches who are dominant or submissive depending on who they're with.

i don't know... but i do know that my boy and i use the term 'mommy' to refer to me in bed alot...


and we used to use the term 'daddy' to refer to him (all this was initiated by me, btw) until he used it himself to say something like 'fuck daddy good.' and that was the end of it. major daddy issues, this girl. esp. surrounding sex.

so i think we're dabbling in some of that there, haven't found our place, nor have we fully explored it yet.

I'm guessing that is where the two sides switch occasionally - instead of being in a strict D/s or Master/slave relationship.

That is how my partner and I started out until we settled into the comfort of the roles. At first, I wasn't sure about switching because I thought that the BDSM community looked down on switch relationships for some reason. So I thought we were supposed to automatically fall into our roles while we were experimenting with BDSM in the beginning and that made it awkward at first. Now we are mostly D/s unless he asks me to take control every once in a while.

what about days when you both want to be dominant? or both submissive? how does that work out.

interesting you should say the BDSM community looks down on switches. reminds me of the stigmas against bi folks in the LGBT community.
