Hey folks! Hope everyone's doing great this evening! As for what motivates me, having better self-esteem & body-image, having more energy (esp for sex ), and having better blood sugar levels, etc (i'm diabetic).

I am terrible about doing it, but there are several free websites that let you do it online. SparkPeople is one of them that I have used myself. They even have an Apple app (probably an Android one as well)

Speaking of motivation, what gets you guys motivated?
I have an orange tree and a lemon tree that already fruit. I figured by planting tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, squash and Jalepenos and a few others that I would be more likely to cook with and eat things that I grow. Get more excited by them. We have 4 kids so we are doing it together to get them involved in living healthier.

I'm here!

My motivation is that wonderful feeling that comes along with eating healthier, and hopefully being under-the-weather less frequently.

Herbs are great also. We usually grow a few varieties in pots also. I love the flavor of fresh herbs for cooking.

She wants to do more than beans this year so I am going to get one of those hanging upside-down tomato plants to put out there.

The toning in my arms was definitely motivation
me and my husband are looking into an indoor pool in our area because of that problem. I love swimming

I drink water almost exclusively, but strangely I'm now craving sweet tea...

Well, we have an indoor pool that we go to, but they're only open for swimmers to exercise either early in the morning when I'm getting the family ready for the day, midday when I have no babysitter, or late afternoon/early evening when I'm getting dinner ready. Just bad timing

I need to work on increasing my water intake, I am letting myself get dehydrated and the weather is starting to warm up, which is not a good mix.

Probably because the sugar was causing your blood sugar level to bounce all over the place. You have a lot more energy with a stable BG.

I would like to get some recipes for deserts that are healthy for the whole family, cut back on the sugar intake.

Y'all know, swimming is the only exercise that works all the muscles in the body. I love swimming so much!

I concur!!!! I'd die! Though I do drink a lot more water & light juice now (except apple - have you tried the light apple? UGH!) And when I drink soda, which I will admit is quite often, it's always diet. I use splenda in my coffee. I only eat whole grain bread (didja know plain wheat bread is just white bread w/ honey in it to make it darker? i kid you not). I dunno, I'm not great about eating healthy all the time, but when it's an option, I definitely do my best.

Gotta give in to cravings occasionally or you'll go crazy and fall off the diet wagon. I'm just surprised that I don't even care about soda anymore.

Those are pretty neat. I'll have to ask my mom how she went about all of it, but she's great at starter gardens that don't take up tons of space and don't require being stuck in the ground either. I think she might have made some of those upside down planters herself too.

also, for ppl with bad knees, it's one of the best exercises you can do b/c it doesn't put any weight on the knees but still works all those muscles & is good cardio too
