I'm making a 2 foot by 3 foot print of one of my images I've taken for a friend as a gift, but I'm having a wicked hard time deciding. I've narrowed it down to these two. Which one do you think?

Without knowing the friend, definitely picture 1. The first picture is more aesthetically pleasing as it has the "diagonal" of the bannister swooping through it, and gives something for the eyes to follow.

Image 2 isn't bad, but it is cluttery.

Those are both gorgeous, but I like the light, open simplicity of the first one the best for a large print. There are just as many things to look at in the photo of the bannister as the photo of the hallway, but it's much harder to notice them, meaning I'd look longer without being distracted and I feel less overwhelmed because my eyes don't jump around as much. You're a fantastic photographer, though! I mean, not that I have a professional opinion, but my humble, unskilled self is thoroughly impressed.

I vote for the staircase, but both are great photographs.

Number one.

For me it is more "soulful" because you wonder what is up and down. The colour scheme would go well in almost any decor and it is just plain. Simple. Elegant.

The second is just too busy for my tastes.

But it would all depend on what your friend likes.
