So I was doing a little housekeeping with my blog today...and realized with horror that all of my older blog posts somehow had my real full name attached to them.

I know FOR SURE that they used to have my alter ego listed as the author. I think something happened when I switched email addresses a few weeks ago. The worst part is, they started showing up in Google search results for my real name. And I have an uncommon name.

I had to delete my whole blog. I can't possibly sacrifice my real-life reputation for it. But I'm bummed And really hoping that those blog posts drop off my search results soon. At least they don't link to anything anymore. Blogspot is sneaky as all hell.

Does anyone know what to do about EF toy reviews that were posted to your blog? I saved all the text/photos to repost on EF. I emailed the support team, but I feel really bad in the meantime that right now half my reviews are dead links.

I have never ran into that particular problem. I would wait for support. They get back to you usually quite fast. You are also covered if you opened a support ticket. That is done uner your account. Sorry for you!

Major badness! Privacy issues are becoming more and more prevalent in the blog-o-sphere.

I hope it works out for you. I'm quite sure someone in tech support can assist you.

Send me an email at: almon at edenfantasys dot com . If you give me a list of good review addresses on your new blog, I can change your old reviews to the new ones.

I figured out how to remove the links that are surfacing in Google search results and thought maybe someone else would find it useful.

You first need to block your site from appearing in search results. You can do that in a couple ways, listed here. I used the noindex meta tag.

Then, log into Google's URL removal tool via Webmaster Tools and request the link to be removed. Google is super responsive; mine have all be removed within the day.

New links are still being crawled and picked up by Google's algorithm, which is frustrating considering that they don't exist anymore, and I'm not sure how to prevent that from happening. But at least this is a tool to swiftly get rid of offending links when they do come up. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Google makes this very easy for people to do.

Nice to know Google actually cares about that aspect of it. That must have been really scary, I'm glad you've been able to start getting things sorted.

Mine isn't quite the same issue and is mostly my own fault, but if you know my real name and the city I live in the Google search will display my home address and phone number as well!

I didn't know about the Privacy options when I registered my domain, and whois.domaintools.com/ stored this information. It's hidden when you click on the link, but shows up in the summary part of the search results anyway

Pretty sure there is no way to ever remove it, so I just pray it doesn't bite me in the ass at some point down the line!
