Maybe the fans who had read the books liked the movies more as they could fill in the blanks with what they already knew.

The problem is with Harlequin, they hatch so much books that they don't know what to come up with, and authors write stuff more farfetched than the next.
True, that! And it seems they have a theme of the year or something. You know, one year all the books seem to be about detectives and their helpless clients, the next year it's cowboys and the new city girl in town. Blah blah blah (lol)

It may seem mean, but I think Harlequin books are only good to learn a new language. It's simple vocabulary to reach a broad audience and it's home conversation-oriented. You get to read repetitive conversations, descriptions of houses and some other stuff. I started learning English that way, that's why I used the same trick with Spanish. Reading with a dictionary worked for me.

Good night to those leaving, I'll be going soon myself.

Well at least they're useful for something (lol). I read them when I was younger but then got hooked on the Zebra historicals. I liked the story lines in those better than the sex though. Then I got ahold of "Hellion" by Bertrice Small, and the one scene in there turned me on enough that I wound up seeking out bondage erotica. Thank you, Bertrice (lol)
