Has anyone tried General Delivery?

Has anyone here tried to ship via general delivery? It doesn't require a shipping address instead the package would go to your post office for pickup. In place of your address you'd put GENERAL DELIVERY and in the zip code you'd have your regular zip plus 9999 (ex. xxxxx-9999). This only works for USPS but I don't know if anyone has tried it and what I would do should the package not arrive.

I'm not sure what someone would do that for. If you've got a street address, why not use it? Or do you mean if you want some privacy and don't want your packages coming to your home you could just go to the post office and pick it up?

I have never heard of this option but if you are wanting privacy with your orders Eden ships very discreetly no one will know what is inside your box If you still have doubts you could always rent the cheapest P.O. Box an have it shipped there an the post office will put it in a big Locker in the lobby or you would pick it up at the counter during normal hours. Well that is how my post office works where I am when I had a P.O. Box an a package wouldn't fit in the box I was assigned.

I've never heard of "General Delivery" either. I'd be afraid it would end up someplace I wouldn't be able to find it!

I have had the same experience as Camoprincess with PO Boxes though. If the package doesn't fit, they get put in a locker in the lobby, and the key to the locker is inside my PO Box.

I believe you can also rent a box at a UPS Store, and those provide you with an actual street address rather than just a PO Box.
