Proofreading program

I asked to be approved for this waaaay back in October of last year, and the page says you'll get an email back within a week. It has clearly been far longer than that, but I can't cancel it to resubmit or anything. It just seems like it's gone totally unnoticed

most likely, it's not being looked at. it's come to a halt as has the mentor program. whatever few editors we have is it for now, anyway.

Unfortunately, they are not accepting, or even looking, at admissions for the editing or mentor programs. Nothing has been officially said about that, but since Stormy was let go (in Feb, I think? I can't remember exactly when she left), there has been no replacement for a person to be a forum moderator, or a liaison admin for us to get answers to our questions. We have all been trying to get help, but no one answers.

If anything changes, I will be sure to announce it for people. As a current editor (yes, we are actually proofreaders), I thank you for your attempt to help, we sure could use it, that's for sure! With the backlog in reviews awaiting editing, I've even offered to do as many as I can per day without any reward for it, but they don't respond and so I can only do 2 a day for some points and one as a freebie for them and no points for me (which I do most of the time). Rossie has been a great help, as well as the others who edit as their time allows, such as Sincerely Yours, N, charmedtomeetyou (she also is a mentor) and surreptitious (another mentor), to name just a few. Every bit helps, but it's a thankless job in many respects. Thanks again for trying to help!!

It's absolutely no problem! There are few communities I am actually interested in help keeping up and I don't want this one to die D: editors for most things period seem to be becoming a rarity, and a bounty of unedited reviews could easily make a site look bad

I think it has caused people to leave in frustration, most definitely! I will certainly keep you in mind should they want to start adding people. I can say you are not alone in wanting to keep this place from dying; the remaining people (from before the changes), are all holding out hope, too. I will have to include you in the PMs I am going to send out about my idea for a super rumble (need to think of a better name). Anyway, there is this thread on it.

But I will fill you in on the details when I finally get my act together (and my health) and send the PMs to people explaining what my idea is and asking if they want to participate. It will be run by me and we will buy our own prizes. Basically, interested people will buy an entry and they can then nominate any single review they have ever written. The winner of the voting (open to anyone who wishes to vote), get's all the entry money in the form of an Eden gift card. (the minimum for a gift card is $25, so we have to have a good amount entering to have the fee be low. For example, ten entries would let us charge $2.50 each.) People will have at least a month to vote due to people coming on here less. Like I said, I'll be adding you to my list to send a PM about it. I hope you will think it's something worth doing. It's fine if we only have a limited number of participants, but I want to see how many people will agree to do it before I announce it to everyone. (I think it will save some time to find out if there is even enough support for it among the "regulars".)

PS, BTW, your sexual orientation answer for your profile is hilarious and is accurate for me as well!

I'm among the "still waiting" for the proofreading programs. I applied for Article proofreading consideration in May 2013. Still awaiting approval. I just applied for the Review proofreading position today, because I finally reached the appropriate rank. I love editing, so I was looking forward to helping out. Maybe one day!

I've been waiting about a year as well. I hope they start accepting more of us soon.
