What one thing screams seventies to you?

I'm definitely not a '70s kid, but the first house I lived in had an avocado green stove. Well, maybe it was more split-pea soup green. Hm.

My mum has dedicated an entire room to the 70's. It's her hippie shrine or something. The walls are a funny green, there's blue shag carpet, and a record player some 8 tracks. It's kinda neat.

As far as muscle cars, the 70's remind me of when they (muscle cars) lost the battle to more fuel saving/compact cars.
Funny how almost 30 years later they came back.

I was watching a documentary on the muscle cars a while back, and they were talking about how the change in gasoline seemed to coincide with the decline with the muscle car scene. Gas become unleaded and lower octane, and this affected the high performance aspect of the cars. I am not sure how true this is, but it was an interesting perspective to consider.

Huge mustaches.
Platform shoes.

I wasn't there, but when I think of the 70s I think of wild, cocaine-driven sex. And lots of it. At least, that's what the movies taught me that the 70s were like...

Haaa, the orange and avocado appliances! And shag carpet!

When we moved into the house that I grew up in (80's but built in the 70's) The carpet was a shag avocado, as was the countertops. The living room was painted a lime green, and one of the bedrooms was mustard yellow. All the rooms had orange curtains!

Yuck!

I didn't think that was accessible (unless you were really rich) until the 80's. I associate it more with the 80's.

Being born in 1970 and growing up with two much older siblings I remember this all too well. Platform shoes, bell bottoms, polyester, leisure suits, Beatlemania, shag carpeting, flower power, pet rocks, mood rings, tie dye, peasant skirts, hippies, sideburns,.... gosh I could go on & on. lol

I was born in the 90's but my parents had just moved into a house (the one we still are in) but it's had a lot of work done now. Anyways, until I was about 9 or 10 we had carpet that was yellow and brown! Not only was it yellow and brown, but it was that shag shit! Lol. It's actually still in our closets too. Ugh! We also had those ugly yellow appliances. The washing machine, fridge, dryer but I think our dryer was that yucky green color for a while. Anyways, we didn't get a new washer until a few years ago! Ha Ha. We also had that ugly yellow colored stove with an oven connected & it was the most hideous thing. Sadly, we only got rid of that thing less than a year ago! Ha Ha. Whew, I'm glad for the upgrade!

I was born in 1972 so I don't remember a lot from the 70's. I'm more of an 80's type of girl.
