It was tricky trying to come up with a succinct title for this, which was why I had such a hard time making sure that this hadn't already been posted before, so I'm sorry if it has. I've been thinking about it for a while, and I saw a post by another member asking about how people keep track of their discussions, so I thought that I'd post my idea and see what kind of response it got. I am not sure if it is possible with the current forum platform, but I think that it would be great if there were some way for us to have a sort of forum inbox that notified us when someone posted a direct reply to one of our comments. I don't know if I can explain this as well as I'd like to, but if we make a reply and then it gets quoted and responded to by another user, that could create a forum notification for us to check out. We could then click on the notifications to continue the conversation if the response warranted it.

Please, please ask me for clarification if this doesn't make any sense, because I feel like I totally bungled the explanation and I think that this would be a great feature. It's possible that the way that the forum is set up won't allow for this, but if it is possible, I'd find it really useful and I hope that others would to. less

I do use these features, especially when I start a discussion, and I find them really helpful, so I'm glad that you brought them up. I've just noticed that there have been a few times where I've gotten direct replies that I would have liked to respond to or been asked questions that it took me a while to answer to because I tend to post in a varied number of places and if I tried to follow everything, I'd quickly be overwhelmed. It sometimes makes me wonder how many responses I'm missing because I haven't gone back to a thread for one reason or another. I feel like it isn't a huge, pressing issue, it'd just be a nice convenience. less
