See what I don't understand is-- Why is 18 the magic number?
In most states the age of consent is 16, and few 17, and another few 18.
If a person here has been able to go out and have sex with an adult of any age since 16, why should he/she have to wait another two years to buy a sex toy?
Seems kinda weird.
I guess it's just all about misconceptions? I know most people don't realize the age of consent is less that 18 in most states...

I don't know about laws on sex toys, but EF does sell pornography as well. I can see where an under-18 person would want a sex toy, but what minors 'should' be able to do often falls way under covering one's own ass.

i don't see why somebody who is interested in sex toys has to be barred because of the age. i had my first vibe at 17 and it didn't kill anyone. i wouldn't mind having somebody under 18 on the forums either; i think it would give more insight to teenage sexuality

I think that they should be able get them they will anyhow, however they should not come into the forum since they can get adults into trouble if we were to talk to them without knowing age and were interested in them for relationship reasons.

Trust me, I was horny before the age if 18 and a toy would have been really nice. LOL. I think that rule is stupid but it's understandable.

I have never been asked to see ID here in Ohio for sex toys either, but every time I go to buy alcohol I sure do and cigarettes. The cashier is always like omg you are 22 you look 15. I have two kids my oldest is about to be three, I'd like to think I did not get pregnant at 12. It is sad that there is minors on here, there should not be clearly some parents are not monitoring their children. And cleary they do not pay attention to the mail, how you hide the big box on the steps from them addressed to you?

so let me get this straight.

somebody under 18 who already knows about money, sex toys, and even online ordering is going to somehow be TAINTED by buying a sex toy that they already know about?

this "law" is a little silly.

---
seems to me that people under 18 aren't even going to have credit cards to make the online purchases. if they did, they have my vote to buy whatever they want to stick inside themselves.

or is it the boobies on the covers of the boxes?

To me, it seems a little strange that people will sell condoms to teenagers, but they won't sell toys.

Wouldn't conservatives prefer teenagers to masturbate and not have sex?

I believe it is illegal to buy sex toys under 18, or at least to be permitted into sex shops in general, but it happens. I'm not personally against it though.

ITA, and with that being said, I would have to be the one to buy it for them, because it is against the law to buy if you are under 18.

I think if you're over 18 you should be able to buy toys and talk in forums and everything.

Nope, conservatives would rather them stay a virgin till marriage. I, however, would have no problem getting toys for my kids, I'd much rather them play with toys than their friends.

When people reach puberty they are sexual beings, whether other people want to recognize it or not. Having a law that seems to insinuate there are two age groups (1-- Over 18, sexual, okay to be sexual.....and 2-- Under 18, asexual, wrong to be sexual)to define when it's "ok" to have perfectly natural urges doesn't benefit anybody. If kids are suppressed or discouraged from masturbating or forbidden to learn about their own bodies, then they'll get into much worse things than *gasp* sex toys.

Way before EF, my husband went to get me a toy at Spencers. There were kids, like maybe 13 or younger, tooling around those aisles. I honestly had no idea there was an age limit to buy. But I certainly think there should be a limit on EF to review.

While I, personally, have no problem with someone under 16 buying a sex toy, I do think that EF needs to abide by the law.

i guess, if it's the law. but really, no one is stopping that under 18 year old from lying. and really, who am i to judge or stop that person from exploring their sexuality.

The law is what it is- it's perfectly valid to debate that, because it IS an arbitrary line. But EF needs to go along with it because, you know, that's the law!

I think 18 can be a little high for some people to be considered "adults," but there needs to be a legal line drawn somewhere and 18 isn't exactly an awful place for it. I think there's definitely room for debate here, but to me it's an okay age for adulthood. Though, I was using toys and having sex long before I turned 18, so it's not like it's wrong to

They are supposed to card even at spencers, but they don't but if an officer went in and saw it it would be like them doing it with cigarettes both the clerk and the under age person could find themselves with a ticket.
