I used to worry about the occasional useful vote amongst all extremely useful votes, but now I just don't care. It sounds hateful, but in reality, I've become more picky on my reviews the longer I've been in the community. A lot of people may vote extremely useful on a review that I vote only useful, because it's missing information I personally wanted to know about the toy, or whatever.

I don't consider that downvoting, and I don't think it's being mean. Different people have different questions and not all reviews will go above and beyond expectations. It's just how it is.

Sadly, there are occasional retaliation votes, I've had one or two when I first started, but now I don't care. Their one vote isn't going to offset the numerous good votes. /shrug

Oh wow. I'm glad you brought this up! I didn't think people would actually do the voting that way. Yuck, that's a nasty thing to do. I do not look at what people voted on mine. I vote 100% honestly on others and not ever because they have a high rank! If anything, I'm more open to searching out for the lower ranked users because they often need more guidance and can really use your responses. I don't always leave my reasons for my less than perfect voting unless it's absolutely un-informative. I just was afraid I would come across as picky or as cruel if I told them what they done wrong so I usually don't unless there's a real need for it and nobody else had pointed it out, but I often come across them (usually daily!) where the higher ranked people are totally mean about the mispellings and such. It's even caused me to leave a response in some cases saying something nice and that maybe there was mistakes, but they can be fixed without someone having to critisize and say "go back to grade school" or "learn to read and write first, this is totally unacceptable and unreadable" I've saw that response on reviews where it was simply a small amount of mispellings and not "unreadable" those kind of comments would hurt my feelings and turn me off from reviews for good if they were bad enough. I understand giving advice, but you can easily detect the rudeness or "i'm better than you" in someone's comment when it isn't meant to be helpful, but to critisize rudely. I hate when someone gets done that way.

I just treat people exactly as I want to be treated. I've worked very hard at doing that my entire life so unless I'm just totally off that day, I do decent. I don't like critisizm, but helpful hints are always kind.

I try to be fair as possible.
