#EdenUpdate - New Homepage & Layout (do you like it?)

I totally agree with this!!!

I love the new layout, it looks great! It took a few minutes to figure out where I was, and a day to realize that I needed to disable adblock plus (in firefox) to get to "my eden." Otherwise, awesome!

I have experienced all the negative issues posted by everyone here, including, having to scroll side to side just to post on the forums! I can't visit any page on the site without needing to scroll sideways. There are too many other extra clicks to navigate from the forum to my public profile to check my Wall.

Can anyone from EF explain the purpose and goal for making such a change? Why invent the wheel if it already works just fine! I can see by all the responses here, most don't like the outcome! If this change was in the works for a long time, SOMEONE somewhere didn't do their due diligence.

We would really love to hear your feedback. What do you think? What do you like better? Is there anything you are having a problem finding? While you asked these questions, you forgot to ask: What don't you like? Are there any changes we could make, at this time, to satisfy your concern?

To make changes, for the sake of just making changes doesn't necessarily improve whatever you were trying to improve! NO, I don't like the new format. Period.

I'm sorry that you are having issues with having to scroll back and forth across the screen. Almost all websites are being upgraded to fit widescreen monitors. Rest assured that Edenfantasys staff will never make changes "just to make changes". There were concerns about the layout for new projects that are in the works and the functionality of the site played into those ideas. Thus, a new layout was born. There is never any intention on Eden's part to alienate or make things more difficult for users to find. All feedback---positive and negative---has been reported to the IT department, glitches and issues that could be fixed immediately, were. Changes are still being made and will continue to be made. I would have to agree with a few others about how its too "open". It almost feels like a "new site" without a lot of content. Naked even.

The "Shop/Play" buttons are nice, but I don't know if anyone will really understand what is under the "Play" tab. At first when I seen that I thought you added games to the site lol.

I like having my points displayed at the top-but because my "Account" button was always to the top left, I keep looking there for everything under my account.

I don't see any banners at the top, which is somewhat a bummer. Those made the site look a bit more inviting.

Something else that kind of messes me up is the joining of all the tabs. You have the Wishlist/cart/compare etc (whereas they used to be on top of the page) now you have them sitting on top of the navigational buttons of the site. I really don't like how that is set up. Some sort of division between the two would be nice, or something to make one stick out from the other. Otherwise it looks like you just stacked the buttons all at the center of the page. Then again, maybe its just that its a "change" and I hate change-trying to find everything, so maybe Im just still in that stage of things lol.

Honestly, I find it pretty hard to navigate and confusing. I prefer the old layout. But, I get really confused when something so familiar changes, so-

This is something that I miss too. I used to jump around from topic to topic a lot and with it being at the bottom, its quite a pain

I have to agree with this one. When we have that many products on clearance, its hard to float through all of them and actually find something you want. Heck, I gave up after a few pages because my eyes were hurting lol

Thanks for acknowledging that most of us are *really* unhappy with the scrolling. I am one of many that bump up the text size in my browser to improve readability, but this (changed) site is the first one that forces me maximize my entire browser window to see everything. It's especially frustrating because the majority of what I see is white space and not actual content.

If this was inspired by Google's successful minimalist layout, perhaps a bit can be gleaned from their layout of the search RESULT page. That page resizes dynamically and fills the window no matter how small you make your browser window or how large you make the text.

Is there any way to get this new layout to dynamically resize based on the user's settings? That would go a LONG way towards improving what is generally regarded as a detrimental change to the site.

Thank you for giving us some explanation for the changes! I appreciate it and I think the community will adjust faster if we understand why changes are being implimented and what the benefits are.

I am adjusting fine to the appearance, I can find what I want, but I find my computer is really slow when I am in the forums. It is its normal speed reading reviews and looking at products. Also normal speeds at other sites, which makes me think the issue is with Eden. I experience a delay that can last 15-20 mississippis. Then I still miss having 1 click access to my profile. The 'like' button seems really unnecessary, too facebook-like for my liking.

I did have trouble with Italics yesterday. It is not always working.

I had issues in both Firefox and Chrome.
