Enemas: Are They Necessary?

Contributor: DancerKittyKat DancerKittyKat
Some people view enemas as a necessary precursor to anal play. Others believe that butt stuff is never perfectly clean, so why bother?

What do you think? Would you make an enema a requirement before engaging in anal sex? Or would you leave it up to your partner? What are your thoughts?

I prefer that my partner douches before anal play, but it is not a deal breaker.

Insightful breakdown of Anal douche:

How often do you douche?
They say you shouldn't douche often. I do with water often and with a regular douche as needed. I know that the vagina is a self cleaning organ but...

would you douche with your partner?
would you anal douche with your partner? not douching your partner, i mean if you want go ahead. but are you willing to do it with your partner? i...

What anal douche do you suggest?
So I'm still new to anal play but totally down for it. I have a pretty good base knowledge of anal play and the basic beginners stuff but I can't find

Shower enema vs. bottled enema
I've found that the nice jet from the shower hose can clean me out a lot faster and a lot better than a bottle or gravity treatment. Does anyone have.

Enemas at home without a kit?
So Im wanting to clean myself out before anal. However, is there a way to do it at home without actually purchasing a kit?

If we plan to have anal sex all my partners so far have given themselves an enema before we start; however, if it's just anal play with toys/fingers during sex that's more spur of the moment and I'd rather keep the mood and clean up later than worry about it.

Most of the motivation is that a pre-anal sex enema might reduce the factors of a UTI if having unprotected anal sex.

A reliable source, OW, who happens to be a RN told me it is not good to do that too often. Said there is good/necessary bacteria in there.

That being said, we do for deep anal play. Nobody likes the sight/smell/ debris that may raise from said activity.

I've read that too, seemed that most sources indicated just using warm water to flush out isn't overly harmful on occasion, which is what my partners do. Actually using an enema solution, etc. I read would actually harm the bacteria and be a potential health risk. But yeah likely on point with most other conventional advice, probably fine in moderation but if you are doing it fairly often likely some adverse side affects.

Also read that it needs to be low pressure douches as high powered/shower connected can push water beyond the rectum/large intestine and that's likely to cause more problems too.

Medically speaking, anal sex is not natural. The human body was not designed for it.

That said, it can be quite pleasurable. It is medically recommended that hygiene be a positive aspect. I can list a thousand cases were improper hygiene has led to nasty results especially when barebacking.

Enmemas I suggest, should be done before and after play.

It's recommended, often when we use a condom it comes out pretty clean. But would you like to risk it?

I do an enema once in a while - my wife not at all. We keep wipes and a towel handy for any mishaps.
