I don't think of fingering as sex. Of course everyone has their own definition of what sex is to them, but I see fingering as foreplay really. That has been used to lead up to more things in my relationship.

I would agree that fingering very well may be considered foreplay but that foreplay is an important part of sex. So YES I would say that engaging in fingering would count as being "sex".
