I don't have mine done, but I know a girl who got hers done because they were small and sort of inverted, and it worked out great for her, she loves them and they look lovely. I think the best thing you can do is go to a reputable piercer, have him/her look at your girls and see what he/she thinks. They may just have to use a smaller gauge than usual if your nipples are particularly small. Just make sure that it's someone you trust to tell you "No, I'm sorry, this wouldn't be safe" instead of just wanting your money.

I have pretty small nipples and they had no problems being pierced. I second what Beaners says, go see a good piercer and get a professional opinion on the matter. I'm willing to bet it would work just fine.

I remember a while after I had them done I was shopping for bar bells to switch out my rings for, and I was in a shop other than the one I'd been pierced at, checking out the jewelry. Trying to decide between two lengths of bars, I asked the piercer his opinion. He laughed at the smaller choice and said, "You'd have to have really tiny nipples for that to fit!" but then he shut up when I bought them

It should really be no issue. As Sam said, makes sure you go to a reputable piercer; having someone go too shallow or too deep on your nipples can be a really big problem.
