I think somehow the whole community needs to be involved. Either with the nominations or the voting. I think maybe the noms would be best because more people would get to share why they think the person should win.

I am open to ideas, but I think the only way to include everyone would be rumble style and we would have 100 nominations each week and that would be too overwhelming. (In my opinion)

Would there be a way to put a "Vote" button on say, the members profile page, that a person could press to vote for someone. I kind of worry that there may not be enough noms at times to make a good Community vote.

LOVE THIS! I did this on another site and it was always a huge hit. It was like anonymous fan art/mail! I'd be willing to put in work for this one.

OHHHHH!

Yes, I thought we were discussing CEC makes the nominations, and then EVERYONE can vote.

That would be amazing, but I don't know if that's something the I.T. guys could just whip up for us

Interesting idea for the site designers

Yep, and it always makes people feel so loved to see their name And being anonymous makes people feel more comfortable sharing their feelings.

Good idea, we have talked about this before with the Rumble. It would be nice!

When I did it , it was a lot of work having them emailed to one or two people, uploading them and then posting all at once. It was always a huge amount of turnout and very rewarding though. I'd love to do this.

So like we make them in paint or whatever, then email them to Gary, then he posts them?

I think one side of it should be handled by the CEC only - whether it be the voting or the noms - and let the community have at the rest. That should keep it more under control. If the CEC does the nominations, but the community gets to vote (we could just do the voting portion rumble-style?), I don't think we'll end up with that many, do you? Especially if we limited it to 1 or 2 noms per CEC participant, and you know some people won't submit any, and some will be duplicates. It might still be a long list, but not close to 100.

I think that makes sense. I think after a time or two, we'll be able to adjust as needs be.

Hi all, btw .

I think we should do that either way! I think it would make people feel really good and confident and definitely up participation in the community It would be a really great feel-good thread.

Ok, I think there was a bit of a mixup there but hopefully we are all on the same page.

So, think about the Contributor of the Month for next time and we will finalize it! Private nominations from the CEC, which are then turned into a public voting poll is where we are at.

I think it should be the CEC in charge of nominations, and community voting. It would keep noms on the lower side (a manageable number) and would draw new people to the CEC.

Sorry to jump in late, but I think that should be reversed, otherwise all nominations are only coming from a limited pool of people, the CEC.

Have everyone submit noms with supporting reasons, then have the CEC select the winner and post the reasons maybe?

We could do it internally? Like members, not Gary maybe? I could make an email just for this. There would have to be some rules though, like no nudity etc. A time period for submissions and then a post date.

Maybe some of us could volunteer to help? Be the recipient of the all the files, and then organize them and send them to Gary so it's less work for the staff? I'd certainly help out.

We were saying that there wouldn't be enough votes then. I see your points though.

Like "I always find you so helpful so-and-so because you always _____" something like that. People could make up the submissions..they're usually like a picture from paint or something similiar..photoshop, whatever, and then have a weekly post about it. No winners or anything..just people getting to show their appreciation in a creative way"

Sounds like fun, I would totally be up for this. Great idea Alicia

In theory the community would see the voting and start being active in the CEC which in turn would increase the pool the nominations are coming from I think.
