I make baskets with lined with plastic bags and fill them with dirt and then either grow grass or put moss in them. I hate plastic Easter grass.
Then we put inexpensive things like play doh, side walk chalk, some books, small amounts of candy and change in plastic eggs, and some inexpensive jewelry for the girls in the baskets. Sometimes we put in jump ropes or other out door toys.
I even make baskets for our older kids, who are legally adults. My husband and I usually don't get each other anything for Easter. Maybe he'll get me some candy, but no baskets. Our youngest is 12 and she's getting a basket. Nothing expensive for them, just little things they can use outside. Bubbles, make up etc. Lip gloss is nice for girls. Boys, maybe some toy cars. Buy big plastic eggs and put the toy cars in there.

Those are some really good ideas P'Gell! We do the small things too like you listed. You can get them at the dollar store and they will keep the kids entertained for HOURS! lol. Thing is, my older two are getting to the age of "electronics" which is sad because now that is all they wanna do...ugh. Welp, Im sure theyll get over it cause now that the nicer weather is here...heehehe...its outdoors play time! Can't see a screen on your handheld gaming devices with the sun out teehee!
we usually still get easter baskets from my grandma. But its a baggie of chocolates and usually household items lol. Dishsoap, laundry soap. Things to help out. PRoblem is, now that I have been couponing.....I have a stock pile and she has run out of things to get us LMAO! I keep telling her she doesn't have to get us anything, but that woman has a shopping disease I tell ya.
