I almost didn't get to donate this time, because I always forget until the last minute. It wasn't much, so I was feeling quite bad for not making more time for EF and earning points, but WOW! I'm glad every one pulled through on this one! You guys ROCK!!!!!

Yeah, I forget too. But lucky Mistress Kay sent me a message to remind me. Thankyou
I wasn't able to give a heap either cause I'd just placed an order and used my points but I'm glad they all added up to a nice sum for the family!

For those that gave, I wanted to let you know that my reflection/pictures/vi deo are up on EdenCafe:

As a sidenote, just for checking this thread, you get a bit of an "extra". When the guy came over to pick up the packages yesterday, he said the mother was driving straight from work to the shelter to wait for the packages that I was giving him. She said her children were so excited, and she was so thankful to have a Holiday for her children.

The Eden Cafe article was beautiful. It made me cry thinking about how wonderful this is. Thank you again for doing this.

I'm glad I had the chance to do it. It was so amazing how many presents we had for the family. Even the coordinator who came to pick them up said it's the most he's picked up all year.

It is so incredible how your Eden Cafe article can bring a tear to my eye, I just feel so proud to be part of your (and the others) giving to these needy families. I wish I could have done more.

You see, my family is not to far from these families we have helped. I have been out of work for almost two years, as such the money is real tight and we did not have much to spend on the kids for Christmas. We applied for a "Giving tree" type program and I just picked up the packages for the kids yesterday.

I can tell you first hand how much it warms my hart that total strangers were so kind to buy our kids gifts. I was in tears when I picked up the gifts and could not thank them enough.

In this world where so many people have lost the meaning of giving, it is so very AWESOME to find people like you, and everyone else that helped, that will give so freely.

I can not say it enough, THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!!!

Thank you so much for this update Kay! It's so amazing to be part of such a great initiative - folks here are all so amazing, it has made our holiday this year so much extra special, to be inspired to give to others.

Have a blessed solstice and a Merry Christmas all!!!

Thank you! I was so *beyond* excited to do this. I'm hoping we do it next year too. If I know we'll be, I'll even save up all of November to give more to all of the families.

Thanks to everyone who donated, and it makes me so happy that we got to help out this family so much. It was worth the nine hours of wrapping and shopping - easily. I know that family is going to have such a great Holiday this year.

What a wonderful post on EdenCafe, Mistress Kay! It was so thrilling to see that pile of lovely presents (and, yes, even the cupcake present was just lovely!). Those kiddos will be thrilled from the tops of their heads to the tips of their little toes -- and mom will feel reassured that she made the best choice she could have made in choosing to give herself and her children a chance at a better (and much safer) life together.

Awww. Thank you. I'm honestly just really glad we had a chance to give back to the family in such a large amount. I give to them every month, but giving such a large amount to a family makes such a huge difference.

For those of you who wanted a bit of Holiday-pick-me-up, I just received this e-mail from the program coordinator when asking about the family's reaction:

"The great thing about your adopted family is that the mother was so excited to get those gifts under the tree that she met me in the parking lot of the shelter the minute I returned to the shelter on Thursday evening to transfer the gifts into her car. I told her about how excited you two were to be part of her family’s holiday and how much you enjoyed shopping that she started to cry. It was amazing for me to be part of the process, so I owe you a thank you on a personal level."
