I am thankful for my family – especially my children and my husband, and for our relatively good health. I am thankful for feeling loved every day – that is something no one should take for granted. I am thankful that I can sleep at night most of the time, and feel good about what we do and who we are. I am thankful for those who have touched my life and thankful for the opportunity to be able to help others every single day – that I have honor of doing work that is meaningful to me and hopefully some of the people in this world. I am thankful to the makers of positive change, the ditch diggers, the big thinkers, and everyone who cares enough to do more. I am thankful for our fairly comfortable home, for our neighborhood and city most of the time when all of the good outweighs the bad, for the Farmer’s Market at our local park each week, for espresso made fresh by a friend at the locally owned coffee store half a block away, for the laughter of children on our street year round, for leaves crunching under our feet, for the twittery mew of the our loyal kitty Sabu and the foghorn crow of her more skittish sister cat, both of whom greet us every time they see us. I am thankful for old traditions that make me feel nostalgic in a good way, and new traditions that bring my little family closer together. I am thankful for intimacy and true friendship, for compassion and pragmatism. For good transformative music and books. For things that make me feel. For color and light and small moments. I am thankful for ability. I am thankful that the future seems infinitely open, that we live in a world where there is so much hope and possibility – if you just push yourself to see it and go for it.
I am thankful.
