Anyone else a sucker for INFOMERCIALS?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
I work odd hours, so am a victim of HOURS of late night, early morning INFOMERCIAL exposure. Sometimes it is all I can do to NOT "call now, operates are waiting". However, once I DID score a product I have loved for decades now (Oxyclean) and then again, there were some knives, and other "devices" that were...well.....less then I expected (pissed away a lot of money, I guess I could say, being honest).

Anyone else have any INFORMERCIAL experience...good OR bad? Do you tend to buy what they have to sell????

I find them more idiotically amusing than anything. They're just so fake. I never buy anything I see on TV. Even seeing a product in stores that says "AS SEEN ON TV" makes me less likely to buy the item.

Especially for the SlapChop.

I actually love my Slap Chop, lol. However I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond, didn't order it from TV. I haven't personally purchased anything from an infomercial, but I have bought things that were labeled as "as seen on TV" and I've seen the infomercials for them.

My husband and I love to watch infomercials for all of the things that you "can't" do without these products, and how they're always in black and white. We just find it amusing that people can't strain spaghetti, or pack clothing, or whatever lol.

Some malls have an "As seen on TV store". I might pick up a couple things if I've been intrigued by them.

Usually it just seems like swap-meet stuff.

For some reason, I like watching them. I don't order anything. I also get a kick out the black and white montages that Sam alluded to in which people are completely screwing up the most simple of tasks, because they don't have the product.

There is a website that I enjoy that review the infomericals themselves. It even has some oldies but goodies on there: Infomercial Hell

i'll watch one every now & then, but they mostly just annoy me. the one i've been watching over & over again lately is about the topstyler. they're these new curlers that clamp onto pin curls. i looked up reviews about it. the people on youtube liked it, & "if you call now you get it for $14.99, but wait, we'll send you a 2nd one absolutely free" just pay S&H, money back guarantee, yadda yadda. but then i found out that after 30 days, if you wanted to keep it, it would cost you $120. it looks like a great idea, but i refuse to pay that much money.

I'd seen the Magic Bullet commercial so many times that I just HAD to have one . . . even when I was 15.

I got one for Christmas last year. It's pretty awesome, but the whole "10 Seconds or Less" thing is a joke.

It's a beast for milkshakes, though.

I got one of those Sham-wows, but under a different name.

Total waste of money!

The only time I watch infomercial is because I'm too busy tending to something, and didn't bother to change the channel. I've never bought any of those "AS SEEN ON TV" items, since I'm unsure about their quality.

I hate infomercials. When I watch them, I pretend it's an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 - I just make fun of them. LOL
