Watching Baz Lurman's Romeo and Juliet. Although I have some problems with this movie, I think I brought an awareness of Shakespeare to the public and made it relateable for folks not versed in it. I was a theatre major in college, so I have a larger than normal exposure to it, I would say. Do you guys like Shakespeare? What's your favorite. I love King Lear and The Taming of the Shrew. 10 Things I Hate About You was also a great adaptation.
Do you guys like Shakespeare?

Hate him, actually. Nothing but fancy tricks in his writing to keep english teachers' attention. Ernest Hemingway wrote a better tragedy than anyone ever has (including Shakespeare) in less than 10 words simply to settle a bar bet. This is the story:

I have always loved Shakespeare. I love the pattern in his words and the simple yet complex wording he created. Not to mention the fantastic words he created.

I'm not a fan. AT ALL! Hated reading his stuff in high school.
08/07/2012
I like some of his stuff. I dislike some of it too. I don't have a really strong opinion either way.

Once in a while, but it's not really the sort of writing that I can read often so I prefer his work in movie form.
Although I did take the time to memorize his sonnet #130 because Alan Rickman read it aloud. xD

I love Shakespeare, but then I majored in English in college and happen to be a nerd.
I've always been fond of Hamlet. I suppose that would be my favorite.

It depends

Shakespeare is OVERRATED in my book! I've had to do WAY TOO MANY papers and monologues on him for me to appreciate him, and I had a class read the Scottish Play 3 times over and pick apart every. Little. Bit. Of. Symbolism. x.X

I can certainly agree that Shakespeare gets pushed so much in school that people end up hating it. However, with the right teacher it can be enjoyable. For anyone remotely interested in Shakespeare (love him or hate him), you can look into the Shakespeare authorship debate- did Shakespeare really write Shakespeare? Google, "Will the Real William Shakespeare Please Stand Up."

I greatly dislike anything Shakespeare. His writing was so overused in high school English classes that I can't stand it anymore. I should probably say that I'm not a big reader and I don't like reading plays, so I'm definitely biased.

I guess I am one of the few who enjoyed reading his works in high school. I still have a volume of his complete works.

We have Shakespeare in the park here and it is really fun. We have a big turnout!

I like Shakespeare.

I like him.

I'm more or less indifferent. I appreciated the two that I read (Romeo and Juliet & Othello) but his work isn't really something I'd read for fun.
08/07/2012
I love Shakespeare.
08/07/2012
I appreciate it but don't like it
08/07/2012
Not my type of thing to read

As far as his literature, I am kinda indifferent. There are parts I enjoy, and some not so much.

I'm a big fan of Shakespeare, and always enjoy watching movies and shows that are newer translations. I do have to be in the mood to want to read his plays and poetry though.

Some of his works

I think he's a little too hyped up. It makes me sad that there are entire courses and sections of courses devoted to Shakespeare but very few that deal with other playwrights of that time. Shakespeare used a lot of the same plots as other playwrights of his time, but the others get very little attention. I also think it's very difficult to read Shakespeare without a good visual to go along.
I am a huge fan of Othello and A Midsummer Night's Dream. I love most of the BBC recordings of his plays too.

This could be MY reply! I LVED reading Shakespeare's works in high school (part in thanks to my inclination toward literature, and part in thanks to one Ms. Trusky! She romanticized his works to the point of sheer enjoyment!).

I recently enjoyed a production of Othello. Shakespeare's plays are stimulating to watch on stage and amazing to dissect in print.
