HBO's "The Newsroom" - have you seen it?

Contributor: Woman China Woman China
Figured I'd get the ball rolling with this one... my students flooded my phone today with text messages telling me about how this old guy on this new show talks about countries the same way I do.

So I downloaded and finally got around to watching the new HBO flick called, "The Newsroom". I have to admit, I may not be American, but when Jeff Daniels spoke up with his "human" answer, I quite literally had tears in my eyes thinking of so many people from around the world answering in both the honest and the brutally honest answers for their respective countries.

I'm hooked and I cannot wait to see what happens with this program and I hope it does not loose it's edgy confrontational side.

And I so need to find out where my students watch these programs cause they are getting them before me!!!

So my poll here tonight is, have you seen it? Were you impressed?

It sounds neither exciting nor sexy enough to hold my attention.

HBO is a premium channel thru my cable company. I've never subscribed to HBO or Showtime. Sorry I couldn't offer a more appropriate response.

I saw the first episode, which HBO has posted online for free until the middle of July.

The episode is a tad too didactic. There are a few scenes that just have a character delivering a speech. However, I thoroughly enjoy watching Jeff Daniels' character going on an angry rant. Emily Mortimer and Alison Pill are cool, too. I'll keep an eye out for the next episode.

I don't get HBO. But I can have someone tape it for me. But I'm sure I will pass on the show.

I actually never watched anything like this before. Bu for some reason, this and Political Animals this year and really drawing me to them. I really enjoy it!!!

I really wonder if this is what prime time news is really like though. And they bring up some really good points like, well I need something from you so we won't focus on this type of thing. Makes me think.
