The River

Contributor: Woman China Woman China
I was told about TV's "The River" over the weekend, and began watching it. I realised that I lost track of marking my students papers, and four hours had passed.

I cannot remember the last time that happened to me when watching a new TV show.

Needless to say, I have found the show strange and a highly interesting story. BUT some of the characters I find whiney (the mother and the son for example), and the camera stuff makes it part of why I like it.

What do you think about it?

I think it's pretty entertaining. I like it's concept but i don't think they spent too much time fine-tuning the plot. The Documentary-style method that it's shot in is also a nice touch! I wish they would spend more time making it look more realistic and less like a drama.

Not crazy about it and only watched some of the episodes.

I do agree that the story line is a little... hit and miss, and if they buckled a few of the details it would be a much more entertaining and catchy show.

But I find that is usually true for most series one shows while they get their footing. So I have hope that come series two it will be better.

And documentary style!!! That is what it is called!!!

We saw the first one but I didn't care for it much, I may give the next couple episodes a shot but if I still don't like it by episode three or four I may give up on it and watch something else.
