Depends on the pairing, general plot, and series but when I find one I like I usually check out the other fics by that writer.

I like to read things from the source writer.

I read fic almost every day, but I chose "other" because obviously fans can't write a character better than its creators. Even if you don't like how the creators made them, it's canon and indisputable.

I do enjoy a good fanfic, but only if it's good.

In my opinion, what gets made matters less than how something gets made. Look at it this way: though he got paid to do it, Christopher Nolan's films are his fan-fic of a character that was created in the 1930s by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. they were still enjoyable.

For the most part, fan-fiction tends to be pretty bad, but that doesn't mean it should be categorically disregarded.

I used to like reading Harry Potter fanfics. I don't do that anymore, but that is probably because I have already read all the good ones. Most of the fanfics are rubbish, but some (very, very few) are actually better than the original book series.

I read a lot of fanfiction in a few select fandoms. Yeah, I have to wade through the crap to find the good ones, but the good ones are usually worth it.

Used to read them a lot in high school, but haven't since I graduated.

Like short smut, just get to the sex. Don't like winding fics that last like 30 volumes before they ever get interesting. I like drabbles and like 500 word stories.

No fanfic, and I mostly don't want to read licensed books if the original work was a tv show/movie, either. A lot of the writing isn't very good.

Only if I REALLY like whatever topic it is at that moment. Like when I went through my crazy Harry Potter phase

There are some really good fanfics out there that are written so well that they could be there own book, but those are few and far in between.
