That's cute. I would just make sure they're getting all their proper nutrients. Cats are obligate carnivores while dogs are omnivores.

I like having animals that aren't food aggressive with people or other animals, but I keep them separate to make sure that one food isn't horrible for the other and vice versa.

I would talk to your vet. Cats are complete carnivores, with only a small need for a small amount of green plants occasionally, they need a very high protein diet. Dogs are "opportunivores" who hunt meat as well. They eat mainly meat, but also incorporate fruit, vegetables and some grasses into their diet. A diet too high in protein (like prepared cat food) will eventually harm the kidneys of dogs, due to attempting to process the excess protein. Dog food isn't high enough in protein for a cat's well being.

I would talk to your vet and until then, keep their food separate.

Good luck.

Separate...though either will steal from the others if they have the chance.

YES! The dog loves the cat food and the cat loves the dog food! But I don't let them eat each others often bc I talked to the vet and there is diff nutrients particular to each animal in their own food!!!!!

Ours are like that! My weiner dog prefers cat food, so we just started buying cat food since he'd eat it over his dog food. Lol. My cats are picky as hell. They think they're princesses and only deserve high priced kitty food. Okay, they are princesses, but still! Lol

My Gypsy used to sneak K.C's dog chow all the time (and he, in turn, used to chow down on her cat food), but ever since Gypsy passed Ceaser won't even eat hard food anymore.

I never let them eat more than a bite or two of the others food though, I don't pay much attention to labels but cats and dogs have vastly different nutritional needs I'm sure.

Cats eating dog food is ok but the other way around is not normally good for the dogs digestive system.

Lol, my mom's cat used to eat all the dog's kibble. We didn't know until we realized the cat was getting fat and the dog was losing weight...
