Today, Nina's talking clit piercings and rough sex.

What I want to know is, who out there has had a clit piercing and did it really improve sexual arousal?

I want to get mine done! I'm very scared though. I've heard that if they do it wrong it can desensitize you.

I want to too - this is something I'm pretty curious about.

I'm planning on getting my clit hood done by the start of summer.

As for what I've gathered regarding arousal, having something stuck through your hood (or behind the clit, or through it...) definitely helps, though some people "adjust" after a few months, and feel that they have "lost" sensitivity. I've heard that simply taking out the jewelry brings back full pleasure though!

I've also heard that a piercer who isn't completely sure about what they're doing can cause damage, which is why you only go to a reputable piercer, and personally, I would stay away from actual clitoris piercings, and either get a VCH (vertical clit hood) or a triangle piercing, which goes behind (rather than through) the clit.

I can't make any claims as to the veracity of this statement. I haven't done any research.

The problem that was presented to me about clitoral piercing was that the jewelry would move around over time. You know what it's like when something gets caught on an earring, but earrings are at least away from a lot of grabby things. Underwear, Lips, whatever might be in the area, can all catch on the piercing.

I'm sure anyone with a clitoral piercing is going to be careful with it, and I wouldn't seek to change anyone's mind. I just want to be sure that anyone who does go for it, goes in aware of potential risks.

I agree with you about not piercing directly through the clit. I don't know anyone who has does this, but messing with the nerves in the clit by piercing them just seems like a phenomenally bad idea.

I have a vertical clitoral hood piercing (important to note, my piercing does NOT penetrate the clitoris). After months and months of research, I chose this piercing because of its claim to increase sexual arousal by stimulating more area of the clitoris (ie, not just the pea-shaped bulb, but also providing contact with the clitoral shaft). My piercing is bar-bell styled, which allows it to lay close to my body. Being pierced there was surprisingly comfortable, and the hood skin has deceivingly few nerve endings. I was walking and riding the bus within five minutes of having it done. I've had it for two years now, and it looks like the weight of the small steel balls has slightly (only SLIGHTLY) stretched the area. But upon pulling out the piercing to examine the hood, it looks perfectly normal except for a small hole. I have not noticed any desensitization, and have not regretted it. I'd recommend anyone who's interested in getting one to do some research and be brave! There's something sexy about knowing that you have that piercing. Especially at work in my business attire. It's sexy to know you've got a secret!

Send me a message if anyone has any questions!

There's a whole myth about desensitization. Anyone who's done any research knows that this only occurs with piercings THROUGH the clitoris, which should only be attempted by serious body mod lovers. These are rarely done, and most knowledgeable piercers will not even do them if you ask. A piercing through the hood won't have any effect on the sensitivity of the area because it doesn't go through the area filled with all those great nerves.

The only way some people might say that they're more sensitive now, which is how I feel personally, is that you have this extra little chilly metal sensation when someone plays with your clit. It's really wonderful. I'd do it again in the heartbeat and I'm NEVER taking that baby out. Men love it, women love it, I love it! It's aesthetically pleasing, safe, and easy to care for because you don't have to care for it!

Be sure to get the numbing stuff. I've felt a lot of pain, but that split second of pain was INTENSE. However, it was only for a quick split second and done. No pain while healing, even when driving home from Berkeley through the hills. It got twisted a couple times, which is just uncomfortable, but after I've had it for a while, it doesn't twist anymore.

The cool thing about this piercing is that it won't close. I mean, after two years, yeah, maybe it'll be closed up, but leave it out for three months and you can come back to it. It might be smaller and take some probing to get it going again, but it'll still be open. It heals really quickly and acts like an ear piercing. They like to stick around.

Source? Well, I have one, and I'm pre-med. I was also really into body mod as a teenager.

How long did it take to heal? Was it extremely painful?

I've never thought about piercing my clit, but I think I'd be too afraid of the pain and the healing process. It took about a year for my ear to heal from getting the cartilage pierced.

Mine healed really fast, in about a week. There wasn't any sign of swelling past the first two hours and no pain or blood involved whatsoever. That area's just really quick to heal. You can try and soak it in salt water, but I don't believe that I did. I'm trying to remember how much care I put into it.. whatever the case, I've had piercings in my nose, cheeks, tongue, belly, ears, all that, but the clit was the easiest and fastest to heal. There's virtually no maintenance, and it always looks great.

As for pain, I got numbed 60% of the way, but when the needle was going through that skin, it hurt like a MOTHERFUCKER. Afterwards, there was nothing. It was like a flash of white and nada. I could touch it, twirl it, whatever, there was no pain. The girl that worked there mentioned that that was pretty common.

Trust me, it's easier than getting your cartilage pierced, and I can tell you right now that you may get your cartilage infected, but you won't get your clit infected. It's seriously that easy and that quick to heal and stay healthy. I say go for it! It's my favourite piercing of them all, plus I mean, it's like having a built in vibe. It's a hard piece of metal that can always hit your clit, and if you're a college girl like me, the boys will appreciate it haha

OK, women, a guys point of view---DON'T DO IT For one thing, ouch! For another, imagine it getting hooked on something or worse yet, what about an infection? Why try to improve what is perfect to begin with?

While it's great to hear someone so enthusiastic about it, I don't think I ever could. I'm not that much into body modifiation. Ah well.

I don't want a stranger looking at my netherlands
I'm scared of what would happen if it ripped out

I have a vertical clitoral hood piercing and though i don't notice it during sex really, it has definitely improved oral and masturbation.

Mine healed extremely fast as well, as most mucus piercings do (labia, lips, tongue, labret, clit). I had very little pain except a second-long white-hot flash of pain and I wasn't numbed at all. Very little maintenance here as well.

People who worry about infection? Infections happen when you don't take care of your piercing.

Thanks for the great post Crashleigh! Couldn't have agreed more!

I continue to think about getting a vertical hood piercing... I want to talk with some of the piercers in town who do this. If I get it I want to be able to trust the person do it, and have a good experience... Yeah, definitely still sitting on it (no pun intended). Partly I would do it just because I think jewelry on that part of the body is pretty. It's adorning a part of my body that I want to honour more.... So maybe it will remind me of the specialness of that area.

I do have to wonder for those of us with metal sensitivities - I use titanium for all of my piercings, and I still get oozy/pus-y in some of my cartilege piercings, sometimes. Is this something that would be common with a clit piercing as well? *curious* Sorry to resurrect a dead post!

I'm assuming you could get the same metals down there (if anything they would be more selective about metals down there, wouldn't they?). If you can find a titanium or even bioplast barbell, I say go for it!

Lots of times the reason you end up with oozing in piercings is because they are tiny bars, and you end up with little tears within the piercing from pressure. The larger gauge ones are much less likely to cause that problem. I had the same trouble in my ears (including titanium) for decades. No problem with my vertical hood with the titanium. Love it
