Do you dye your hair?

My hair is hot red/pink at the moment, I dyed it this morning. I probably dye my hair somewhere between 6 and 12 times a year. Sometimes more! But I try to use dyes that are not so harmful to my hair, like temp veggie based dyes, or I go black.... which is always a mistake because I have to bleach my hair like 8 times to get it all out and it takes forever.

*shrug* I'm an admin with unnaturally colored hair. You'll have to forgive me for taking a bit of offense. It's all good though... at the end of the day it's just water under the bridge, you know? And you're right, it is her opinion, and I honestly am cool with that.

I think this fight is stupid. No offense, but isn't the whole idea of asking a question getting an honest response? She could have been more tactful, but sometimes people just stick their fucking feet in their mouths. I do so constantly! The question was asked, she answered, there was no outright insult, just her opinion on why she did not think she would be dying her hair random unnatural colours. My hair is bright red/hot pink depending on the light. My WHOLE head of hair. Last month it was green and black, then green and blue and pink all at the same time. I am not offended. If she thinks I look like a damn clown well, that's up to her i don't really give a fuck. Neither should you. It would be one thing if she were standing outside your door yelling "hey retard with the clown hair!" She is not.

You are not, right Laur3n?

The only problem is I wear my hair high and tight. I don't think there are wigs to mimic that, or at least ones that don't look ridiculous or require a make-up artist to apply.

Hair isn't really all that important to me so I don't go to extended lengths with it. I dye my hair occasionally though - blue moon occasionally - however, I had two tone hair because the old color I had done was growing out and it looked bad along with all my lovely gray's trying to make an appearance so I did just recently dye it my natural hair color.

I think Laur3n wrote that IT REMINDS HER of clowns or cartoon characters. That's a perfectly valid statement. People with pink hair shouldn't be so sensitive.

I dye my hair occasionally, I usually stick to more natural looking colors like burgundy or dark dark brown because I have to for my job. I have always wanted deep purple though!

There are half wigs, with head bands at the front and tight ponytails at the back... you could get one of those and style it.

My mom is a haridresser so I had many styles, I was quite lucky to! I had my hair dyed pink once but hated it and got rid of it three days later...I started a pink trend at school, lol.

I went into hairdressing, so I went through different stuff there too. I've had a lot of different natural type colors, streaks of all sorts of colors, you name it.

I used to bleach my hair blond (I have natural dark brown hair) but it was a lot of maintanance. It had to be done pften and it was really damaging to my hair even if I took excellent care of my hair, with lots of products. When I finished hairdressing I started to due my hair very dark brown, almost black...eventually got back to my natural hair color.

Now I get glossings which is like dying hair but it washes out slowly. My hair is a nice redish brown, like Phoenix in X-men 3! I loved her hair so much in that movie...I tried to get something similar...mine is a little less red I think....I need to refreshen up my color!

Oooh. That reminds me. I bought a glossing kit but I'm afraid to use it over my semi permanent pink cuz the box says it "may" lighten the hair a bit. Will it pull the pink out? Or help seal it in? (never admit your a hair girl in a crowd of women. we WILL ask for advice. hehe)

For all those that do pink and purple (and blue and whatever else), what do you use and how long does it stay in?

I would love to put a few streaks in, but I have only ever heard of people using Manic and they say it doesnt last.

For purple, Splat works pretty well for me. Carrie Ann has said that she uses the pink Splat as well, but mixes it with another pink to get the shade she wants. Special Effects pinks are awesome too, I dyed parts of my hair Atomic Pink from them, and 3 dye jobs later, it's still there, lol. Blues seem to be hard to get to last no matter which brand you use, but I've also had good luck with the Splat one. So I'd recommend either Splat or Special Effects

If I were you I would get some Punky Colors, or Punky Professional, Manic is water based whereas Punky is veggie based and last about twice as long.

If you want to do pink or a fuschia type purple try Loreal HiColor they have both highlights and all over dye..it works AMAZINGLY well without any bleaching. I wish I could find some pictures of when I did it..

With HiColor's red

With HiColor's magenta..the magenta looked a bit more hot pink and less red in person..that was just not swell lighting.

I really hope that works and shows up!

LOL not not at all. Thank you. Some people are just more sensitive about what others think of their appearance. I am glad I came back in here to read this! I didn't even know your hair was dyed. I thought that was a wig (hopefully you don't take offense to that...idk if that would be a bad thing or not)! I didn't know they made dye in such a vibrant red. That's crazy! Do you have to condition your hair constantly to make sure it isn't damaged from all the stripping of it? That has got to get expensive. And no, I don't think you look like a clown...want to know what I thought of...Ariel from the little mermaid! Which is a cartoon...but she is pretty And...she was my fave when I was little lol I was obsessed!

What do you use to color yours? I saw yours in your video and loved it..made me wish mine was that color again! Just too much upkeep for me right now and I haven't seen my natural color in YEARS so I want to let it show now before it goes gray LOL (which I don't suspect will be too far off..I've already seen strays!), but I am thinking about adding some streaks to the underside of my hair for now.

I absolutely love those pictures you posted. I loved the Color Rays L'Oreal did, I would dye my whole head the fuchsia shade, and the only reason I got away with it at work is because on me it always ended up looking like a bright red. I loved so much that my hair was never fried with it. Right now is a different story, but that's cuz I went and got a perm, then kept bleaching it, lol.

Not a great picture of me, but the bright red is Splat, as well as the glimpse of purple, and the hot pink you can barely see is Atomic Pink from Special Effects:

And this is the Color Rays Fuchsia on me, always looks red, lol:

Yep when I worked in an office I always just did my hair bright red because it was "natural enough". I've worked at home for the last 4 years and that's when I tried the pink and fire engine red..it was so much fun!

I only got a perm once but it fried my hair...never EVER again! My hair just doesn't take well to perms.

Wow i love all of them but especially the red ones because well I've always been partial to red hair! My husband really wants me to go blue but I just can't bring myself to do it..maybe I should do some streaks for him, that could be fun

Thanks! The red was my favorite too, the pink was fun but the hicolor is permanent so after a while I got bored with it. The red though I absolutely loved but it fades and has to be redone and after a while the hair starts to need a rest and then growing it out is sooo much work.

I'm not sure if I'll ever a perm again. I mean, I love the waves and all that jazz that I have now, but my poor ends, lol. Right now I'm a lovely shade of something resembling blonde, transitioning into turquoise soon. I did a color similar when I was in high school, and I'm excited to see how it comes out. I figure worst case scenario, it looks like crap, I dye my hair brown again, wait until after my wedding and honeymoon in January, then go back to pink, since it seems to work pretty well for me, lol

That hair actually is a wig, I have 3 awesome ones, the red, an identical blue one, and a straight layered purple one. But my hair really is red/fuchsia. You will see it soon! I am gonna do another couple of vids this week.

I use punky colours. Ideally anyways.

Oh and Laur3n, I just deep condition my hair a ton, which is super easy i just load it up with conditioner and only rinse about half of it out before i get out and towel dry then go to bed with it like that.
