Best friend has a cabin in New Hampshire that belongs to her husband's family. Gorgeous place, on a edge of a small lake, wild blueberries, lots of trees, fun to swim there, relaxing to listen to the rain on the roof, read without being bothered, can hear the sounds of nature. The cabin itself is a 1950's time capsule, so there's always something new to find and learn about. Very nice place to visit, all told.

Nope, no cabin here. My man's family used to have a Summer home in the Sierra, but not anymore. If I had one, I don't know that I would go... it would be a bit of a hassle to get a sitter for the pets and pack up. But we're MAJOR home bodies.

We go to renting cabins. Recently, we've gone to the Buckhorn Inn in Gatlinburg most. It's full for Thanksgiving, though, so we're looking at some other ones. When Thanksgiving break is just 1 week or two before winter break, we figure it would be more convenient for them to come up and we cook dinner in a cabin (then I'll go all the way home for winter).

I live on 8 acres that is backed by 2-300 square acres of state land. While it is not a cabin per-say but we have a wood stove for heat and cook on a propane stove. Even have a dirt floor basement. We get wild life all the time. Just tonight we had four raccoon come in and munch on the deer feed. We even get a bear once a year that comes through after it wakes from hibernation.

Just love it, would not trade it for anything.

We might go if we were invited. Short stay, but we are CITY folks and like to do our fun stuff at the Theater, or in nice, plushy hotels. We are just not outdoory camping or even cabin types. To each his/her own.

My family rents a cabin in the mountains every second summer. It's a wonderful vacation for those who love the outdoors!

No, but I wish. I love cabins in the mountains. They're so quaint.

I feel lucky we have a house to live in.

No, we don't have any summer property, and neither does anyone we know. Most people I know are barely making ends meet on one place to live.

My grandmother had a cottage when I was a young girl. It was a different place and time, though.

I think cabins are nice and quaint, but I don't think we could realistically comfortably afford something like that anytime soon.

I would love to have somewhere other than my home to go visit every few months, but keeping one house is expensive enough for us right now...."someday" though!

My family owns some property with a couple of cabins on it. It mainly gets used for hunting. I don't go up there too often.

My partner's family does, but we skipped this year. Honestly, I don't enjoy it that much. Maybe if it was just us.

My husband's parents bought a house across the street from a lake 20 some odd years ago. It's not quite a "cabin" but it's the vacation house that their family uses, although it's mostly my husband's parents or my husband and I that use it since the rest of his siblings live fairly far away. Well, his one brother isn't that far away, but he works too much to take any time for a small vacation most of the time.

We don't go up there very often, but we go a few times a year to have a weekend away to ourselves that isn't costing us money to go to a hotel. Although we may not be able to go back until the place either gets a thorough cleaning or I remember to buy us both allergy meds because the last time we came back I was miserably ill for days because of my allergies cuz the house is filled with dust.
