We both have desktops. We plan on continuing to use desktops because we can build them ourselves for a lot less money. He had a laptop but it overheated and almost set the house on fire so we do not plan on getting another one.

I've had a laptop for years. I don't really like desktops as I like to sit on the couch with my laptop. Since I'm attached to the computer most of the day, a desktop just doesn't work for me.

8c I wish I had a desktop. I've got a lousy laptop. (Dell inspiron 1720)
I've had it for five years, and it needs to be trashed, soon. I can barely get it to play flash games for more than a few minutes, or play a whole video without lagging the system down.

:x I don't see desktops dying anytime soon. They just perform so much better than laptops on heavier functions.

I use my desktop more than the laptop or netbook. It's much easier for school work.

I recently unplugged my HP desktop for the last time. I do want to get another one but not in any rush as my MacBookPro laptop has been my primary home computer since I bought it several years. That said, my next desktop will be a pretty basic model (unlike previous ones) since it's the backup rather than primary.

I spend way too much time on my computer for a dinky laptop to keep up with - my computer is on and in use almost 24/7.

Being a hardcore video gamer, I should have a desktop, but my macbook pro plays just about EVERYTHING I want to play just perfectly. =P Plus it's super portable lol

Yep, it's nice to have more processing power for gaming, as well as a bigger monitor

I suspect that everyone who doesn't have a desktop doesn't use Photoshop, do high-definition video editing, or use a computer as a PVR, HTPC or server.
