Has anyone ever made their own "at home" funnel cakes? Like the kind you get at a county fair?



I made some this morning and they were delicious!!!!

Oh yeah, and elephant ears too! I also make a blueberry glaze for the funnel cake that is to die for!

Our Fall fair just ended, and I've actually found something I like more than funnel cakes... they're called French Waffles.



I still have 2 left over.

Oh yum, I tried the one time. They did not come out to well for me. Of course it is hard when you have to attend to two screaming kids and a sick husband. I picked the wrong day to try to make them.

Yep, someone gave me a funnel cake mix one time. I used up the whole canister. I enjoyed making them at home, because I didn't have to make them quite as greasy as the ones I had gotten at the fair.

You bring back very fond memories, I have the recipe for them from a childhood friend. She used to make them on weekends for us girls. I've never made them myself but seeing your pictures encourages me to make them. What do you do with the left over fat? How do you dispose of it? That was the only reason why I've never made them. Your picture looks exactly like the ones she used to make.
