I love the color gold in many cases. Silver is pretty, but depending on the way it's presented it often comes off as cold-looking and boring, at least on toys. Gold (again, depending on presentation) more often gives off a look of warmth and sometimes even elegance.

Not my thing, but than again I'm not a fan of gold even as jewelry.
