Have you experienced catty women on Eden?

Contributor: ViVix ViVix
So, I really don't get too much flack. I think if I don't have anything nice to say, I usually just don't comment on this site. However, I have noticed some female reviewers who I would describe as making catty comments on just about everything. Have you experienced this? Do you consider yourself catty?

I know it's not exclusive to females to have this kind of personality, but from my experience on Eden, I have not noticed any men like this. This poll is also not intended to single anyone out.

I think that some women may just be critical in general.

I'm not sure that catty is the word, but there are some harsh people on here. It almost drove me away at first, but I've decided to stick it out. I thought maybe it was just because I was new, but maybe not.

I used to post a lot of things that I wanted advice on, but I stopped after getting catty responses.. I think a lot of women don't realize how mean they sound. I understand that they are "just trying to help," but it is SO important to pay attention to the way things sound.

There's no option for not having experience of women being catty here. I find most people here quite nice, haven't had anything negative directed towards me.

I've never experienced this on eden but I think a small portion of the 'catty' women may just not realize how they come across in their wording.

Some people do not even realize they are being wrong but it is an impossible situation because those same people in my experience do not take criticism well. I have not dealt with it on this site yet though.

I think you are going to find catty people everywhere. In my experience, EF has a hell of a lot less than any other sight I have been on. I love the closeness and feeling of community on here. There are also some people who can be overly sensitive and can take things a bit wrong. (I am guilty of that), but for the most part, there are friendly, accepting and amazing people on here.

Completely agree.

I don't know if it's necessarily being catty, I think that the people I have encountered are just very strongly opinionated.

It might also be "voice" versus reading. When we say something, the meaning is understood better as opposed to reading it. There can be things lost in translation.

I think that there are "catty" people, blunt people, and very truthful people anywhere you are, I think that sometimes words get misinterpreted too and people may get their feelings hurt or be offended when that is not the intention of the writer.

I think Eden is actually very low on the scale of cattiness. It may be that I'm just used to harsher parts of the internet.

Unless I'm so used to the harshness that I'm perpetuating cattiness myself. Oops.

I also agree here too. Sometimes I say things that I did not mean to come off catty but I am a very opinionated person and tend to speak my mind a lot.

Hmmm I wouldn't dub you catty for that.
When I think of catty women, I tend to think of jealousy/pettiness etc.

Like girls talking shit about each other because of an opinion or because of how someone looks or acts etc. and just being petty about it.

I haven't really noticed it. As awesome as all things internet are, one major drawback is that it's hard to read a person's tone in something they type, so it can be easy to take things the wrong way.

I agree with you. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. I try to word my replies carefully if I have an angry emotion entwined with the response, and if I think it sounds "catty" I get a second and sometimes a third opinion!

Yes, but I watch my mouth on Eden because it's kind of easy to get your account yanked away. Besides, dealing with cattiness with more cattiness just isn't a good option in the first place.

Oh ok no I have not had that happen to me so far. I also don't do that to anyone else. I get enough of that being on the cam sites I am on. But you can only wonder what some people think especially when you post pictures on here. But I would hope the person came to me about it.

Yeah same here, dealing with pettiness offline is enough. It's nice that it's not a big deal on here though most of the people on Eden seem pretty laid back, even with strong opinions lol xD I know I'm pretty opinionated but I try to just give it as my opinion and not shove it down someone's throat x_X Just "yo this is what I think, see ya'"

But belittling someone is just... no reason for that.

Like Js250, I'm a sensitive person a lot. People don't always get that about me because of my sarcasm and the attitude I have (not bad, just how I am) but I really am. Sometimes I get hurt over things that probably weren't meant in a mean way.
I have noticed 2 here, but that is nothing. I just ignore what is said and skip over. One situation was handled by an admin.

I mean I think us women can be a lot more mean to each other than men, it's true.

But I have also noticed a guy on here making the catty comments, again, since it wasn't just to me I didn't take it personal or to heart and just ignore it. I actually kinda just laugh it off because you just start to expect it.

I think that a lot of the time there is context in words that gets lost in cyberspace. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt over the 'net because I know that I've made several comments that have upset people and when I go back I see that they just don't read how I wanted them to. There's so much subtly that's lost, so unless it seems to be purposefully mean I just brush it off.

I've definitely read a few posts by some EF users that could be classified as "catty".

I think you have that everywhere, and a lot of it probably has to do with it being in text form. Some people are genuinely trying to be helpful and it just comes across as being mean or rude.
