What do cats prefer to stay warm: sunny greenhouse or cushy kitty house?

W/we have recently finished the fine, fleece padded wooden construction I just call "Pussy Play Palace" for O/our seven loveliest kittens, being quite the blessing to have something for them in the rainy winter after they have made a kind of "mini natural disaster" laying all over O/our plants in the greenhouse...

Master says He built their house dark cause they like Darkness... O/our adorable landlady says they would prefer it open, glassed up... (That would prevent them from having the fleece walls inside, only with shelves fleeced up...)

So... What do you think, or what is your experience?

When it's sunny they will want to bask, but when it's not, they feel secure in a dark, protected space, especially to sleep. So both people are right; it just depends on the circumstances!

(I hope they won't be kept only in a dark environment, it's not healthy for any animal to be locked away from all light.)

My cat loooooves laying in the sun. There's a certain chair near a window in my house that has sun on it almost all day that she naps on all the time

I 100% agree with this. This is how my cats are.

My kitties would adore having a greenhouse because they love heat. During the day they like to lay in the sun, lay in front of our heaters and under the heat lamps in our bathrooms. And at night they sleep on us and steal our warmth.
My cats will occasionally go in to their kitty house, but they don't really like to hide away for long.
I know my cats would definitely choose sunlight over a dark place, especially if they can be perched up high so they can see everything; they love that.
It really depends on the breed of cat and personality though.

My cats like to sleep on paper, and in the shade of bushes outside. They also like to roll on the grass a lot. Once my dad made them a cat house but they never used it. One of our cats had a tiki hut and liked to pee in it

Depends a lot on the cat. From the one my parents have, sun and a cushy throne to look down on people are really the keys

So cute, my cat loves to do the same. During the winter, he wants to be curled up next to my stomach or in the bend of my knees.

Don't have a cat but the ones that I know love the sleeping in the sunshine

My cats love paper, too! I have one who smears herself in the grass & the others roll on the concrete or asphalt.They are just staring to get Spring fever & staying out for more than a few minutes. The other day was sunny & they rolled all over the areas of the drive that didn't have snow or water. And dammit, if they didn't all come in stinking of asphalt whenever I kiss them! I guess the winter days of not having to wash the floor daily are coming to an end, I think I felt a little grit on the floor yesterday At least they're not trying to brig chipmunks inside, yet!
